Speedometer show in MFD

The salesman could not make the display behind steering wheel show speed. It shows trip distance etc but unlike a lot of other vehicles, it did show a digital speed readout. Is this possible? Thanks!

You have to code it in. Look under "diy and coding"

Like VW vagcom code in? Can the dealer do this for me? How would I do this? Thanks!

Yes like Vagcom but cheaper and no dealer won't do it. Plenty of discussion here and under the "diy and coding" section.

Thanks!

I found vagcom easy to use on VWs. Is this easy as well? At first glance it seems a bit more confusing. Also vagcom was simply the cable and software. This seems like there are a couple addtnl pieces to make this work.

You can see if it's in the diagnostic menu, but that's a PITA to pull up every time.
  • Hold in the trip odometer button until menu pops up (10 - 15 seconds)
  • Tap the odometer button a few times to scroll down to "Unlock"
  • Press and hold when you are on "Unlock"
  • The unlock code is the sum of the last 5 digits of the car's VIN (i.e.: if the VIN ends with V123456, the code is 2+3+4+5+6 = 20). Tap the odometer button until the counter reaches your unlock code.
  • Hold the odometer button until the menu unlocks.
  • Scroll through the menu looking for the information you would like displayed.
  • Press and hold the odometer button on the item you would like displayed.
Now, you have to do this every time you start the car, so it's not as convenient as coding it on in the standard display. But, costs nothing, changes nothing, can be done this morning, and you can use it to display things like oil temperature and such.

FWIW,
GEorge

The F22 Cheat Sheet thread contains a step-by-step guide to setup the required applications and data (shameless self promotion). Then all you have to do is follow the youtube video which shows you how to actually change the setting you want to change (the actual cheat sheet has the exact value you want!). It's fairly straightforward.

A reliable and thrustworty source of the application/data you need would be shawnsheridan.
