Service Update Firmware/Software?
I am due for my 2 year service. My F22 is a very early production model. I was wondering if it was useful to have the dealer do a firmware upgrade. Is it worth the 200 bucks. There are some features I don't have like actual tire pressures on the TPS monitor. Worth it? What else could it fix or update? Thx JHB.

On my last BMW the dealer installed software updates for free if the car needed them.
With that said, TPMS pressure can be coded in since it's part of the head unit. I had that on my '13 F30. Also, you can update the iDrive firmware yourself (if you have it) by downloading the latest to a USB drive and sticking the USB stick in the glove box. http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/con...re_update.html

They upgraded my firmware when they did the fuel pump recall. I got no added features. I still don't have tire pressure.

I have done the media and phone upgrades which are relatively easy. I am teetering on the fence about the firmware. Hate to spend the dough if I get no noticeable changes.

I'm surprised BMW won't do it for free. Have you asked them nicely with beer and doughnuts on top?

There's a difference between software update (iDrive media/phone software) and firmware update (I-level). A dealer will definitely not perform the latter for free and the first one is easy to do yourself

This thread hits home for me. I believe I have an early production car too. I should check to see if my fuel pump and firmware is up to date. Believe I'm March of 2014 production. Will check that.
