Proper Jacking Point M235i?

Hi,

Does anyone know what the proper jacking point for the M235i is, or if there's a diagram of the underbelly of the F22 platform that I can refer to?

Also, for the jack stand points beneath the side skirts, should I use BMW jack adapter or would regular jack stand be ok and won't damage them?

Thanks!

The link above shows a user's pictures of a spot toward the front-center of the car that a BMW shop foreman marked as a jacking point; I haven't used it myself.

According to this link, you can use the rear differential to lift the rear. I haven't tried this either.

I personally used a BMS jack adapter with my jack, which I used with the points underneath the side skirts that you mentioned. It's only $10-20, which is worth it for me. Others have reported using hockey pucks with just as much success.

In terms of jack stands, I've seen users' pictures here where they used regular jack stands without special adapters just fine. I personally have 4 ESCO low-profile jack stands, which you can find below:

They're a bit pricey, but I couldn't find another stand that had flat contact surfaces. You can also get these stands with built-in pivoting blocks to plug in nicely to the side-skirt jack points, but I didn't opt for them myself.

Maybe others can chime in with first-hand experience of using something other than the side-skirt jack points to jack up the car.

Good luck if you've got a flat on the front. When I blew a winter tire I had to grab the wheel well and lift the car up as much as I could so the roadside assistance guy could get a jack under the car.

I've been under the car, and did not see a single location up front that looked suitable for use as a central jacking point. Looks like these cars were made for lifts only.

Have not tried jacking by the side skirts next to the jack pads. I have not seen enough evidence that these areas will support weight without deforming to convince me to try it.

On the plus side, jacking under the rear jack pad does raise the front on the same side pretty easily. If a jack has enough lift, you should be able to raise the front enough to place a jack stand under it.

The best jacking points are at the dealer's shop.

Surprised BMW doesn't have an official jack point documentation; even my Nissan 350z had one...

Search the forum people did a lot of research and there are a number of threads. There's def a kit that works and someone has pics of everything strapped down in the trunk. For what it's worth I used a jack from my 2006 3 series convertible once and it was fine. Would also suggest carrying a small sledge for when wheel is stuck on hub.
