It's clearly US spec. Why make a non-road legal race car to US specs?

In fact the US spec headlights might also be cheaper to replace due to different legislation. I remember reading an article in a German Magazine about how expensive (on a small race team budget) it was to replace some parts like the headlights on the M235i Racing (the article actually mentioned the headlights specifically) since they where the exact same as on the production models and very expensive... |

Can someone send me a link about why they didn't use DCT? Was it weight?

A deck spoiler and a huge ass rear wing? Doesn't that seem like a bit much?

I'm guessing here... to me it appears that you can run with the smaller spoiler and then if the track you're on is a high speed track the large spoiler would come in handy?? I don't race but to me that would be my logical guess. Different tracks may require different downforce.

I have raced this weekend in the 24h of Zolder with the M235i Cup.
The new updates were tested there already in our team. Bigger wing and suspension with uniballs. We were first in Class after 3.5 hours but then we had an exploding brake disk. We went to 40th place. But After 24h of hard work by The BMW Motorsports Trophy team Walkenhorst and all of our drivers, we could manage to get back to 3rd so a podium finish. It was for me a dream come thru to drive for the Bmw Team Walkenhorst who runs these factory cars. Talking to BMW Motorsport engineers was just awesome. I have waited a very long time to get such opportunity! It's me on the far left Some last checks from Bmw Motorsport before the start of the 24hour race. Also nice to mention all m235i cars wo did this race finished without any faults. How about that for a street car build into a race car! There is also new GT4 racing car in the works. Rumors are it will be based on an M2 Last edited by Advevo; 09-02-2015 at 04:11 AM.. |

Congrats and thanks for tuning in. It's great to have some inside info
This event is part of the BMW M235i Racing Cup Belgium, isn't it? Do all the M235i racing cup teams benefit the support of BMW Motorsport staff? |

Since they launched this program I've been curious as to the choice of using the 8ZF trans. That being said, I took my wifes X1 to the track and was quite surprised at how effective it was when placed in DS....I tried manual mode but soon realized that leaving it in DS and letting the transmission do all the work was much more effective.
.....so this makes me more curious about these "modifications"....my guess would be more aggressive software and more robust hardware. Advevo - what are your impressions of this gearbox? -Scott

But in general, the headlights cost a fortune, regardless of model and not just on the 2er. I don't even want to know how much it would cost to replace the LED ones.
