I was pulled over for doping 90 on the Hwy. Got off with a warning and he said he liked my car...I think my plates saved my bum as I have veteran vanity plates.

And I have a clean record.

I got cited for no front plate last Wednesday. My first citation ever...
The sadder thing is that my dog took a bite out of the ticket lol

Anyone have some advice? I took a picture of the whole ticket the day I got it, is that any good? Should I expect something in the mail for this non-moving violation?

I would set it to a 180kmph, "Police cars here are only factory tuned. If you can do better than 180K they can't catch you, so they don't even try"

Funny thing is that, that statement isn't as untrue as some may believe it to be lol

I'm pretty sure your car can't beat a radio. Cop simply calls his buddy down the road.

Why are the US speed limits so low?
In my country (small country in Europe, next to Germany) you can do 130kmh (80mph) on highways that are usually in a pretty destroyed state and usually only two lane. You can usually do 150kmh (93mph) and the cops will still leave you alone most of the time. Only time you can get in real trouble is if you are doing over 180kmh (112mph) since from that speed you can get your driver's license taken on the spot.

Just seems weird that the speed limits I keep hearing about in the US are so low since from I gather you have a lot of multiple lane highways that don't have many sharp (well, for highway standards) curves.

Is there any logical reason for this that I am missing?

No your logic is spot on, its just our Gov doesn't let us peasants enjoy the luxury of getting to our destination in a timely fashion. They figure if it takes us that extra 15 minutes each way it will slowly dissolve our will to fight the other ridicules notions they pass onto us.

During the oil crisis in the 70s, state and federal government started enforcing low speed limits in order to save gas.

They never lifted or raised the limit after the crisis was over, since they realized it's such a great money maker.

I don't know about the rest of the nation, but the freeway speed limit was reduced to 55 MPH (double nickel) in California during the energy crisis. When the crisis passed, the limits were returned back to 65 MPH, or higher.

Our speed limits suck because the California Highway Patrol exists to collect money for the state and they do a good job at it. If only we all stopped speeding... the CHP that remained on the road would have to do something useful for a change.

True, the road I commute on has a 65 speed limit, and tickets fall under some part of the CA code where you can't argue that you were going w/ the flow of traffic, for some reason. Everyone goes at 75-80. There are some eager beavers that try and go faster and weave in and out, but w/ the traffic on that road, I highly doubt they are really saving time

Well I've said it before. It's hardly worth the risk. I paid over $400 because the CHP said I was doing 81 on a 65. This is a common tactic because 1) 81 just happens to be the point at which you're automatically charged the highest fee short of 100mph, 2) CHP know you're not going to go to court to contest the ticket since it probably costs you more to take the time off, 3) even if you do take the time off, you might get a reduced sentence, so they still win and get paid to go to court (which they will, every time, because that is their real job).

You can hit this site to get an idea of why it's not worth it. http://www.free-online-calculator-us...alculator.html

If you managed to go 80mph consistently for 20 miles, you would shave 5 whole minutes from your 20 mile commute. With traffic, maybe 3 minutes. Might as well just go 65mph. You won't get there much quicker anyway.

The two main highways in my area (Long Island) are both 55

The average person driving on either is doing at least 60, with most traveling 65-70.

Few months ago I was messing with my tune and I added about half a tank of e85 and decided to do few logs.

It was past midnight and there was no one on highway, so I stopped and launched it! 1st gear redline, 2nd,3rd, right as I'm about to hit redline in 4th I see light flashing in my rear view mirror. Yo can estimate how fast I was going...

At that point I realize I'm fucked! My car is going to get towed and I'm off to jail. He asks me why I was going to fast? LOL I told him the truth (no one on the highway and I wanted to see what the car can do) he looked at me and just said, got home and don't do that again. I told him if I ever seen him again I owe him a dinner.

I am a cop so I am very lucky...been pulled over a few times...going very fast at 4 in the morning on the way into work. I wont even tell you how fast but a subordinate of mine was caught at 147 and left off with a warning..guy pulled him over and said you have to be a cop to be going that fast and think you can get away w it. And he was right.
