Wouldn't window tinting be equally effective?

Mine is fine. Wiped it down with protectant in the first few days I had it.

Regular maintenance on Sensatec or leather is the key. And you need to keep your a$$ off of the bolsters when getting in and out. That is a critical point of wear on any material.

Regarding the the Dakota leather, I have to disagree on the quality. I have the coral red leather in my X1 and it has held up very well. Better than that, it does not get hot and breathes very well. I would happily pick it again ... looks great and very comfortable.

Sensatec on my 2012 X3 is showing a small crack on right side of drivers seat. 70K on it. I treat it with Leatherique which is formulated for synthetic material and it does a good job.

Spent a day with a 228 with black Sensatec and was very glad to be back in my X1 with leather. Maybe it's the color, but the red leather in the X1 is never hot. The black Sensatec was noticeably hot in a very short time and today was a very cool FL day.
