It must be just me, but these new BMW's are getting expensive these days.
Getting out of my reach more and more. I guess i'll be settling in for a CPO cars.

It's been confirmed already. So far they are talking about an engine based on the n20 an s20 I guess. Which make the m235i even more attractive.

Confirmed? Source? I know there has been talks about M working with the N20/4-cylinder engines but don't think it has been confirmed. And with the M235i having a I6, how likely would it be that a full out M would have less than what is available in one of the models?

Source was Scott you can do some search on this forum there have been many posts about it in the "BMW m2 engine of choice" topic and on other topic. It won't come before late 2015.

That's interesting to see the M2 have a 4 banger when the M235i has a straight six...

I've seen a product information guide that says xDrive will start production in July for August delivery. Base price $48,750 for M235i.

I remember reading the M235i would have an optional LSD. Is this still the case?

Bummer!
I think that might be a misprint for the M235i in this ordering guide. On the EC M135i they did not come with RFT's just like full M cars like the M3/M5/M6's - no run flats.
That's good news. Thanks.

suprised not to see the LSD in the options list - how would one go about ordering with M performance parts from the factory? BMW individual? Wait until it arrives in the states then install (which woudl be annoying b/c you would have to pay for two differentials and two sets of brakes)?

Yea annoying but that's how it's been for M Performance Parts such as brakes and suspension. There's no way to have them 'port installed'.

I'm starting to think that an M2 might actually be cheaper than an M235 if you went pure performance - start with $45,000 base on the M235 then add:

LSD - a few grand for the part with a couple hours of labor install
M performance brakes - again over $1,000 plus install
M performance suspension - same again

Given that BMW requires factory authorized install on the performance parts for warranty purposes (I have an MPE on my e92 M3) and the dealerships around my home charge $180 per hour of labor, I bet adding suspension/brakes/LSD would add $6,000-$10,000 to the M235 and drive the price well over $50k.

I'd assume you could get an M2 for something close to that money (albeit in 2 years). The M2 would be a far better option - all factory installed parts with some additional benefits in more power, M-car resale value, asthetic enhancements (wider track with flared fenders, more agressive front end, quad exhaust tips, typically better wheel/tire combos, etc.).

Yah, that kinda sucks.
With 2 grandkids to haul around, Id much prefer the pleather which I have in the 1er and X1.
With snowy, salty, muddy boots and sticky candy and soft drinks spilt at least a hundred times over the past 6 years in the 1er, the pleather still looks brand new.
I wonder if there'll be an option on the M235 for pleather? I'd pay extra for that.

Why does everyone from the US read these posts think this is how the US cars will be? You actually think we would get heated steering wheels standard, comes in real handy in the south. Our option lists have nothing in common with how they package the Canadian cars. The X1 had very few common option packages when it came out.
