M235i -- Question about fuel filler area

Hey gang,

Wife picked up an M235xi cab this weekend. While refuelling I noticed a rubber circular thing next to the fuel filler area. I'm guessing it's some sort of manual fuel pressure release mechanism? Anyone have details on what it's for? Didn't see it in the owner manual and I tried searching.

It probably isn't important but I'm anal hahah.

Think it's for diesel model and their emissions - was a post about it a few years back.

Exactly, for the diesel version. I asked the same question about a year and a half ago!

That's right where the filler for the cow-pee tank is on our X3. Since the 2 series has diesels in their lineup elsewhere, that's a blanking plate or knockout for those models.
