The 218hp BMW 225d is tuned to an impressive 271hp!
Here in America we have the option of either 228i or M235i models only. In Europe they have access to a wider range of 2-Series models. The have the options of 218i, 220d, 228i, M235i and the 225d, a popular model over there. The 225d model comes with 218hp and an impressive 332 lb-ft of torque. ShiftTech Engineering says their new ECU tune alone pumps the performance of the 225d up to an impressive 271hp and 379 lb-ft of torque! Is it possible to generate this much performance solely from an ECU tune alone? Also just curious, will an ECU tune VOID the factory warranty? Other than improving the car's performance, does it effect the cars electronics in other way?

I can believe that for twin turbo diesel.
Turbo diesels are really tunable. I have a 218d - I have fitted a DTUK tuning box and a DTUK pedal box. The difference is amazing. Tuning box: 36 different selectable maps It has given a 48 bhp and 120 ft/t increase - making it more powerful than the 220d and saving £3500 in the process. Pedal box: 18 different selectable maps Instant acceleration - sneeze and it goes! Best part, totally removable and does not void warranty. |
