2016 m235i LSD - no more port install option?
The '15 MY configurator had the M limited slip differential as an option I think to be port installed but now it seems to be gone in the '16 configurator.
Anyone here work for BMW or recently order with information? Can the LSD still be port installed on special orders? |

I ordered my M235i last week with the LSD. It is a dealer option that is port installed.
I noted to the sales guy what you said. The sales manager figured it out. |

LSD Pricing?
In addition to this, what is the pricing for the LSD? I'm talking with dealers right now and was just told $3240 for the LSD. If true that would be a bump over last year, but I suspect the dealer is jerking me around.
Edit: Just got an actual price list from another dealer who also lists it at $3240, is everyone seeing this? Thanks, Last edited by Poboy; 09-03-2015 at 09:20 AM.. |

Agree.. I was quoted same price ($3240) for the LSD but it's clearly listed for less over on the BMW website.. What gives? How much "mark up" is there on these M performance parts and do we have room to negotiate the prices lower, especially if the parts will be installed at the port rather than at the dealer?
Really having trouble getting a handle on the actual prices of all these parts (for example M Perf exhaust, carbon fiber pieces, black kidneys, etc) which is a problem as I would like to be able to negotiate them into my lease deal.. |

When mine was installed it was done at the dealer ( more $$ than port) for like 3400 CAD all in or something. |

I was quoted 3250 from my sales guy for port install. I paid about half on my mini with an OSGiken installed but that doesn't come with a warranty of course.
So is 3250 worth it to maintain the oem warranty on the whole car and keep resale value high? Yeah probably. In my opinion anyway. Edit: If it works like MINI I think you can haggle on dealer parts cost (I did and easily got -20% off parts msrp) and there is a discount the service bay gives to install the genuine accessory. So my JCW suspension install took all day and it was a flat rate rather than the normal 100+ per hour charge. Or whatever it was. The drawback of dealer installed is that the installed part is covered for a lesser warranty of like 2years vs the entire manufacturers warranty. |

Yup, that's what I paid even though the price was cheaper on BMWUSA. Not sure if the price was for installed at the port or what.

The price is way too high in my opinion. It seems that when you take M235i msrp + 3200 that almost justifies buying the M2 alone. That really closes the price gap. Of course we don't have official pricing but we can guesstimate based on the 135/1m diff.

So what you're all saying is we should go by whatever the dealer quotes us (MSRP) for any M performance parts when building an M235? This seems sorta ridiculous that the LSD goes up like $400 bucks from last year and is listed for cheaper on the BMW website (even with installation) compared to what the dealer was quoting in my build.
I'm just trying to get a handle on a best price for my build. Obviously we all know that dealer invoice is around 7-8% off MSRP but the M performance parts are complicating my math! I want to be able to negotiate around a best price scenario (including the car + several M performance parts) for a lease deal in order to reaidualize the M parts into my lease...I would prefer to have the parts installed at the port rather than at the dealer. One poster on another thread mentioned that the M perf parts are usually marked up around 10-20% and that we should factor that into our build prices. Is this not true? This becomes very important for those of us doing leases. Thoughts? |
