ED scheduled for 9/23-28 ... should I get winter tires?

Hi all,

My thanks to everyone that has ever posted details about their ED trip ... my wife and I are now going on our own trip to Munich for the ED experience from September 16-28th and I was wanting to get the group's feedback about snow tires.

We will be picking up our new 340i with the 19" wheel package including PSS and our itinerary takes us from Munch to the following locations:
Hohenschwangau
Salzburg
Hallstatt
Werfenweng

We are picking up a 235 the second week of October and going to Austria, and I asked the same question a while back. Consensus seemed to be is that yes there is some risk, but not a large one. Call me foolish, but we are going with the summer tires we ordered on the car.

My ED is in late September, and I plan on going with the stock summer tires. I read somewhere that by 10/15 at least all-seasons are mandatory; you'd be OK from a legal perspective then, but it'd be great to get some thoughts from folks experienced in driving around Europe this time of year if it'd be dangerous to do so.

My ED is on 10/13, so I'm right on the line. I'm most likely going to get winter tires through edwintertires.com.
