Should I get a CAI or no

I want to get more sound out of my turbo so I was gonna get a cold air intake but then saw a lot of people saying on the threads that they just cause issues such as engine lights and rough idles. Is there any other way to get more sound out of my turbo while keeping the stock intake or should I get an aftermarket CAI.

I've got an injen and I love it! Opens it up so much you can hear the turbo spool and the blowoff valve whoosh. I haven't had any CELs either. That's currently the only mod I've done to my engine.

I have the Injen EVO 1103 for a few months now and have never had a CEL or rough idle. If you want more sound though I would go with the Injen SP1122.

How noticeable is it when you floor it. Do you have to have the windows down or can you hear it spooling up with the windows up?

The nice thing is you don't hear it at all unless you are stepping on it and revving. You can barely hear it when it shifts at just lower RPMs so for cruising daily driving you'll be fine. I have a video of it on my Instagram page @konigkieran it's at the very top.

That sounds great. The only thing im worried about is that I live in florida which is insanely hot and im worried about heat soak during the summer as that isnt covered or boxed in but just open.

+1 - have one in my car and haven't had any trouble and sounds good. Probably won't make as much noise as an open filter, but you don't have to worry about hot-air intake.

Looks like it's on sale at the moment - still pricey.

Does the dinan intake have the same warranty where if something fails dinan picks up the tab?

Can't say for sure - check with Dinan.

Turner Motorsport CAI here. No issues but not much sound compared to stock.

I will second the CTS intake. Great price, sound and no CEL!

I have had the afe intake on my m235i for 3 years and love it! Sounds and looks cool plus it helps you hear the turbo spooling a bit better. I've had a couple of check engine lights during this time, but after turning off and on the car a few times they always went away and I never noticed any drivability issues.

Have the BMS plastic molded intake, fits like OEM, looks close-to OEM. No CEL's in over 1.5 years, and lots of cool turbo/induction noises, and increased DV or "blow-off" sounds.

Probably zero performance gained, but I got mine on a sweet sale, and for the $$ it brings smiles for days. Worth it for the sound alone, imo. And that would go with any open intake, they all should sound very similar.

If I were looking for the best intake on the market for the F22, I'd say the Dinan unit has that going for it, from a form/function perspective.

Dinan or stock with upgraded filter are the only two choices that make sense from a performance perspective. The rest of the options have compromises.

Which are the compromises? Why only those two choices make sense?

I plan on picking up the Dinan, not sure the release date yet. I hope it will give me some noticeable increased intake music. I loved the added intake noise using a less restrictive filter on the e92's. It was definitely worth it just for that.

Can someone tell me why people are so eager to fork over $600 for a short ram instake? I think that money is spent better elsewhere. Granted, it's your money, but none of the intakes on these cars show gains over stock. It's a visual/audio mod.

For some people, getting added sound is worth it? If it's $600, I'd much rather spend that money on an FMIC and CP for noticeable gains.
