Upgrade Turbo

Looking into a turbo upgrade for my M235i. Seen some information on Vargas and PURE turbo upgrades.

My car is FBO 6spd:
ER FMIC, CP, Catless DP
BMS Jb4, Intake
Tuningwerk axel back exhaust

PURE seems to be the most straightforward solution but I would love some input on those two As well as other companies if they're out there.

Until real flash is available don't bother with EWG N55 turbo upgrade ... Then when you do get flash go with stage 2 right away to get most power and you should be close to 500whp

Getting up to 500hp mark, I know us auto owners need to worry about the ZF8 being able to handle it. Anything like this with the manual?

Why go for such a risky upgrade? Im all for aftermarket performance but isnt it better to save that money and work towards an M2. I believe it is essentially what the M2 is going to be but more reliable.

I agree with your sentiment, but some guys like to hotrod their toys.

Unless the new M2 has an Xdrive option, some people will have to pass and they will want to tinker

I believe it has been said the m2 will have a variant of the n55 so essentially if its the same motor you will be able to achieve almost the same power or exactly the same power on an m235 and know it can handle it if the m2 will.. Although the 1m is a great car at the end of the day it is an n54 just like a 135 and 335.. You are paying for better handling, looks, and status by choosing a 1m.. In my honest opinion I'd be more inclined to choose an m2 if it had a detuned s55 motor if not then ill take my chances modding the 235 especially since its xdrive.. Just my two cents

BMW must do something drastic with the M2 in order to market it. If tuners are able to essentially make an M235i into an M2 then the market for the M2 will become obsolete. We should not underestimate the engineering that goes into the M car production.

If an enthusiast wants to possibly make an M2 from an M235i it will cost just as much as purchasing an M2. This is my experience from tuners trying to make conversions to its later models.

BUT at the end of the day, to each their own right?

Just because it is going to be an N55 in the M2 does not mean the engine won't receive some serious attention to allow it to support the additional power, i.e. forged internals, something which the N55 in the M235i may not be able to safely support.

I would never try to make a 235 an m2, I am simply saying BMW has to do something special to the n55 motor to make it that much more appealing otherwise everyone is going to go mad over just getting better suspension/handling and wider fenders with a touch more aggression.. I personally don't care about the cosmetic stuff so if the motor is the same and just tuned up higher from the factory then I'd rather just keep my car or wait until my lease is up and then get an f80 or f82.

Now our perspectives on the M2 is on point.

Until it's officially announced, I am ready to be surprised by something different than an N engine.
