Whatever you do, DON'T buy the aFe DP, it WON'T fit the M235i. I wasted my money on that crap, didn't fit at all, see my post here:

I hope I'm not too late to give you heads up on this. Cheers

I sent an email to HJS concerning their upcoming EU6 catted downpipe for M235i. Here is their answer:

1) Is the development of this device terminated or will it have some improvements? planned sales start March 2015

2) Is it an ECE homologated device? Yes

3) Will it keep the car Euro 6 compliant? Yes

4) Will you guarantee that no Check Engine Light (CEL) / MOT / EOBD issue occurs with it like with standard OEM catalytic converter? Yes

5) Do you have some figures on how much noise level is increased? +1dB

6) Do you have some photos of this device like the ones you have? see attached prototype picture

7) Do you have some video comparisons before/after under different driving conditions of your device on the M235i? No

8) What is the retail price of this device? 1.150 € (net)

9) Do you have a version for 3.5” flange (for M135i before 07/2013) on top of this design with 4.0” flange for M235i and post 07/2013 M135i? No

Have you seen these? Supersprint which use HJS cats.

http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-19...sport-cat.aspx

They are ridiculously expensive here in the US.

Thanks for keeping us posted on this quenotte .... I'm just wondering, what could be the reason for each catted downpipe to be so different in therms of pricing? Wagner (which it is never in stock) is $790, SuperSprint is like $1,800, ER is $895 and the HJS is $1,150?

And at the end, all manufacturers claim that their catted DP won't throw a CEL error, later I read that someone with the Wagner's got it and with other brands too....

I finally purchased the ER catted, they also claim that I won't get CEL errors, I hope I won't.

It's very difficult to find valid information on catted DP...

ER catted one seems very nice, nice design with long smooth transitions and ability to have it ceramic coated to reduce ambient temperature.

HJS cat seems doesn't look as nice (more abrupt design) but HJS is leader in sport cats manufacturing and brings ECE certification...

Not that easy to choose!

@AlexGT, may I know who told you that ER Catted downpipe won't throw CEL?
Because as their reseller and other brands, no one ever promised a non CEL catted downpipe.
High flow catted downpipe is a hit and miss on the CEL.
The main reason for catted downpipe is to reduce polution while still having a good exhaust flow.
But since most of the new car ECU are too smart and the smog center will fail you just because the CEL is on, catted downpipe is just to avoid the smell and makes you happier knowing that you are not contributing to the polution.
Also, on the clearing CEL through OBD2 port, with a module, some new smog test like what they have in Cali, will not let the car to be tested since the car is not primed. So you will have to drive the car for 25-50 miles before you can get it tested, which by then the CEL will goes back on.
Also, with all the new ECU design, every code clearing, means the ECU trying to relearn the engine to run optimized.
As for BMS JB4, it works differently, I believe it just intercepted the O2 sensors signal and alter it to avoid the CEL.

I've asked ER about CEL and their catted DP by mail.

They indicated me that they cannot guarantee that there will not be a CEL.

They pointed out that, for the moment, no customer complained about a CEL.

They offer a refund if I have CEL issue.

Other brands such as HJS guarantee that their catted DP will not throw a CEL or generate codes.

The seller I bought it from told me the catted ER downpipe won't throw me any CEL errors. I've already used the car for more than 250kms (traffic and spirited driving) not an error yet. My car is Euro spec as I don't live in the US, I don't know if that has anything to do but I hope it does so the CEL error never comes up.
