Stage1 runs 3psi over stock across the board. The JB4 map 1 runs anywhere from 0-7psi over stock depending on the conditions, engine speed, gear, etc.

I have been using the Scorcher for 2 years and have had no problems (no codes, idle problems) . Going to the M235i next October 2015 it looks like I will have to get the B model and sell the A model .

Yes, 91 works fine. Don't know about higher octane but better I would guess.

Thanks for the info Delnari. I am considering the AFE as well. I know there are 2 different connectors that are available. Where exactly is the connector located so I order the correct one?

You only need to piggyback two sensors, the TMAP and Map sensors. The instructions are on aFe site, Scorcher Installation.

So is it correct that installing the aFe module would cause my P3 gauge to give false boost readings as it basically tricks the ecu? Are there any other complications that could arise with using the P3 and aFe module? I remember reading somewhere on here about the JB4 and P3 not getting along, I just wasn't sure if the same problems could occur with the aFe...

Out of all of ur tunes it seems like u favor this one the most.
I'll def most likely consider this set up over all first. I'm in the
Alexandria area as well. I'll be looking out for u once I get my
M235i and bike lol. (Unless I can wait for the M2 )

It has been certainly the "best bang for the buck" while not causing any issues that a higher boosted system might. Custom tunes and full JB4 will be largest increase. Keeping the motor and electronics safe while having more fun was my goal. Plus, I can resell it when my new car come 2016 shows up...

After reading your review Delnari, I too decided to pick up the scorcher. The JB while tried and true is just so ridiculous with all the extra wires. The setup is so clean and easy to swap out for maintenance no problem. I also have the AFE intake and the combination is outstanding. It transforms the car completely. I would reccommend this to anyone in the market for this sort of thing.

FYI a few months ago BMS switched the Stage1 to a simpler harness. It also still has the USB port for data logging and custom tuning changes if you want to turn the boost up a bit, etc.

Is the aFe Sensor 1 (77-46301) or Sensor 2 (77-46304) required for the M235i ?

There seems to be conflicting information on the websites!!!

Might be a dumb question, but I just wanted to run it by you guys before I bit the bullet.
I know that running a CAI without a tune can cause the engine to run lean, which can lead to issues with turbo engines like ours (M235i xdrive), but these simple tunes that just trick the ecu into seeing a lower boost than is actually there, will they actually solve that problem? I'm just worried about long term effects, as no one here has any failure lights yet.

I plan on getting the Momentum cai, with either the scorcher or racechip tune.

I run the aFe Momentum intake with all the tunes I have installed for nearly one year now. No check engine lights or problems by having it. Currently running the RC Ultimate with "D" setting on 93 octane gas and all is good.

Does anyone know if you can get proper readout data from the p3 vent gauge while using this scorcher tune??

You should be able to on all parameters except boost. All piggybacks that interface this way 'fake' boost readings as part of their operation and so what the computer is misled into seeing is what the OBDII port will give you.

You run the P3 boost function in analog (requires another wire from the p3 to a tap on engine bay sensor) mode that will give you true boost readings.

How about issues with altitude?! Do any of these piggybacks combined with 91+~4500ft(in my case) cause problems?! Which "stage 1" piggyback would you recommend for that situation?

I know the JB4 has autotuning, more features, etc. just don't want to deal with the install.

Thanks!
