I own a 2016 m235.
I dont really know about mechanic and tuning... so I called a tuning shop and
the guy suggests a ''piggyback'' that will supposedly add 80 hp to the crank. 900$

So I have it installed and everything is fine, I am satisfied.
A few days go buy, And I ask the guy...''is it a bms stage one that you installed?''
He says ''it is something like stage one but it is not, it is something that is
not available on the internet that I ordered via a special software bla bla bla.''
Then I start being doubtful. I removed the part, took a picture of it and sent an email to bms asking what it was and if they had any products that were not available on the internet (you know...that maybe only a professionnal could buy). The answer I got was: ''It is a stage one that you have and all of our products are available online''.

So I have to come to the conclusion that I was fooled. Stage one adds 50hp...not 80. And 900$ seems a little high.

Unless maybe there is a way to tweak a bms stage one with a special software and that is what he did?

How much did my fellow canadians pay for having a bms stage one installed?

post pics of the part that got installed. also i'd have demanded my money back as soon as i found out i got the wrong part, no matter what they said. not worth dealing with people like that.

$900 sounds pricey for BMS stage 1, but not insane if that was actually what they gave you.

Get your money back. You can get a new BMS Stage 1 for $380 and install it yourself in approximately 5 minutes with zero mechanical experience. You can even find used ones on here all the time for under $200.

If it has 2 plugs for sensors and 1 for the tune box it's a stage 1 tune; $900 almost gets you a flash tune which would be much better or a JB4 and catless DP; again much better.

Unless the CAD is performing much worse against the USD than I believe, then yes, you got robbed. See if you can get your money back. Between the 2 and 3 series forum you'll see a bunch of used ones going for about $200 USD.

A little high!!! Stage 1 BMS is like $380 and they charged you $500 to unplug 2 plugs GTFOH! I'd be doin a BBB case if I were you or demand compensation.

Dude we get it no everyone is mechanically inclined, but for future reference USE these FORUMS before you buy!

Post questions, we, I, someone, will chime in and help.

Go back and get your money.

Ripped off is one thing IMO like sure I'll charge you $250 to instal your jb4 on your car. That's ridiculous. Even. I charge $75, $100 if it has the OBD. But $500 for a stage 1 w 2 plugs is a scam and is in a realm of its own. He got bent over hard and needs to go get his $ back .

I think the dealer personnel that suggested you go to the guy definately took a cut and was in it to rob you man. He probably does that often.

you got yourself a stage 1 JB harness B which we and many vendors sell for $379 shipped and the whole thing takes 5 minutes to be installed.

Map is already preloaded so all you have to do is plug in the adapters and you are good to go

I just talked to him and he keeps saying it is not a stage one.
that since 2011 he has his own way of customizing these (not
available for detail) and never had any problems.
Either he is a liar or a very special tuner I guess...
