Not true, it take all of 15 minutes to install this tune. If you are referring to the cam sensor plug, you just need to know how it comes off and then it is as simple as can be. You need a long thin flathead screwdriver and you slightly pry up on the ribbed tab while pulling plug to release, it's really quite simple. But, a flash tune will be better, so irrelevant to this post.

So it's just a generic tune when done remotely or do I tell you I've got X and Y mods and you have a tune to match that? I'd think I'd want custom flash to support my setup vs. generic as that's what I have with the piggyback now.

Good question, I am curious as well.

Enzo has tuned dozens of f22's so he has flashes that will match your bolt ons.

If you want a DYNO tune to your car, you will need to bring your car in.

I thought that was the way it operated, appreciate the input!

Wish I still lived in Stamford, I would be to Enzo in a heartbeat for a dyno tune. I think the flash will be just fine though!

None of our tunes are generic, we have been working with these platforms for some time and have reached a point where we can package our tunes depending on application.

Bolt on components like intercoolers, intakes and chargepipes do not need a custom file and do very little to change the parameters where a custom tune is necessary. Downpipes, upgraded turbos, fueling etc is a different story. We spent weeks developing a solid calibration on ronanz N55 PS2 and now offer that tune as a package for customers who have a similar setup.

I had this tune on my car and returned it in favor of an Enzo flash tune.

The cam sensor is indeed the most difficult issue.

No way I could remove this tune in 15 mins, and definitely no way I could install it in 15 mins unless I had hands the size of a small child or woman.

What about warranty issues? Supposedly one of the benefits of a piggyback tune is that you can remove it and the dealer won't notice that you had a tune installed. I'm guessing that they'd notice an ecu tune. Also, if for some reason my ecu needs to be flashed for some repairs or whatever the ecu tune is gone, right?

We keep your factory file in our database along with your VIN specific tuned file in the event your ECU gets updated or erased.

Of course a reflash is on the house in the event you do lose your file

From my understanding, the ECU flash is pretty untraceable. Unless you blow your motor and try to warranty it, BMW will have no reason to ever look into your ECU. My dealer is very mod friendly so I am not overly concerned, but no matter what, a tune can leave traces behind (piggyback or flash).

If BMW really wanted to dig, they would be able to find something, but I wouldn't worry too much.

Enzo,

Please clarify this for me.

I run e35 99% of the time. Do you have a specific flash (not dyno tuned) for that? If so, what happens if I'm stranded with only pump gas available to me?

Or..

Would I basically use a pump gas tune as my base flash? If so I assume the e35 will help, but won't take full advantage of the e35. I would just use JB4 stack map 6 to get the most out of the e35?

Thanks.

Well I have normal man hands and it's a 15 minute job. I find the cam sensor quite easy to get off with a long flat and skinny screwdriver. I'm sure the Enzo is a better tune option, but I wouldn't go with a RaceChip because of fear of the camshaft sensor that's for sure.

I liked it! No problems at all with the software itself. I ended up going with Enzo for much more power and the ability to have a CEL delete for a catless downpipe.

The AA8 was far more time consuming for me to install/remove than I expected due to the cam sensor connection. I was looking at a piggyback as a removable solution for dealer visits. However, removing and reinstalling was too much effort.

I'm sure many other people have no problem with the AA8. My free time is very limited and it simply took too long.

Sweet, thanks for the info. AA's site says that the install takes about an hour. I'm intrigued by the Enzo tune though. That much more power seems like it will shorten the life of the engine a decent amount though. :/ Any concerns there?

Maybe in the future there will be a dealer which does the ECU tuning in our area.
Anyway, IMO the ECU tune is the way to go.
I'm a Chicago based Flash tuner just returned from a 10 day tuning and training session in Brazil got my equipment all ready to go. Check us out ACF Performance we still have our old website up that's all in Portuguese but our new multi lingual site is going to be launched very soon. PM for more info.

Anyone know of charge pipes outside of ER? Don't really want to spend $400 on them

Interesting. Do you have any info/data/dyno regarding the AFC Performance tune?
What's the price?
