Poor MPG - Flash, DP, Intake

Hey guys,

Just wanted to get some input from the forum on my fuel efficiency numbers. I honestly don't care all that much aside from the fact I want to ensure nothing is wrong with the car.

I recently finished my flash so I am putting down a lot more power, and with the addition of the MPE I have been ripping the car around town quite a bit.

I live in Chicago, and commute only a few miles to work each day, with a huge majority of my driving being in stop and go. I recently changed the oil, plugs, and ran a bottle of Techron through the engine. Anyone have any thoughts on my MPG?

Its all listed here with the percentage of city to highway. Keep in mind the post-flash numbers are beyond July 23:

You're x drive so your current MPG makes sense. Especially now that you're prob in the boost all the time not that you can help it lol.

I'm RWD 335i and I see 19.2-20.0 on average and my driving is 50-50 city highway.

How you achieved the 27mpg average on your car is a mystery to me because my wife DD a 2015 228i rwd and she averages 24.8-25mpg all city.

I would say drive it in comfort for a week or so and take it easy on the car and I bet the mpg climbs back up to 19-19.5.

I doubt you're ever gonna see better then that man. Unless you're driving like a guy that's collecting his pension checks already

I figured I am about where I should be, just wanted to get some other opinions haha. I am averaging 17.4 actually, 27 was just my highest.

Oh P.s. Get a damn charge pipe. Or you'll be calling a tow truck because your oem ate itself.

Alex just took delivery of a nice new VRSF piece for testing work something out.

I'm mainly his install guy I think but I'm out of commission due to shoulder surgery til October.

Otherwise if you don't have a shop i'd love to install it down the road.

It's the sheer excitement of that added power and you're probably wot more then you even realize. I would say you're right on where you need to be. Could you do a bit better...? Perhaps yes.

Let's see if some other members chime in with their MPG.

I can tell you that I remember when i installed my jb4 on map 2 and a DP the mpg plummeted severely for me.

The flash manages parameters much much better.

You can do it. X drive is a bit more of a PITA, but nothing you can't handle.

You get stuck PM Alex or myself and we'll get you goin.

One pointer I have right off the bat is watch the orientation of the coupler elbow clamps. If you don't position them correctly they will rub on your steering column shaft.

Yeah I'll be able to do it no problem, just need to set aside the few hours to get it done haha. The VRSF pipe looks good though! Price is right too

Price is perfect. ER will need to reevaluate their approach. If it were me and I have an ER, at this point I'd choose the VRSF every time.

Its all listed here with the percentage of city to highway. Keep in mind the post-flash numbers are beyond July 23:

Yeah I'm the one that beta tested it (not willfully). Just got the ER pipe in and packed up the VRSF pipe.

Pedal to the carpet and the boost stays on. It's an addiction.
