My thought on this whole intake debate is that the difference one way or another isn't really noticeable without lots of quantifiable testing. I treat it like a new muffler, it's mostly just there for it's sound. I love the sounds of a turbo.

I agree with that.

trapped even lower!

Another 12.0 but only 113mph although the DA was much higher compared to the day of my PB 11.49@114.3 with the stock filter. Also added a can of Torco to E30 so I am sure octane was higher.

I have a BMS intake waiting to go on but may be I can return it since it is still in the box and buy the one Alz0rz has for sale as he is local.Let me know hw much you want for it, boss.
Plan to get back to a dyno after the intake since all the local tracks are closed(may get one more run this year in Morocco near Chicago as I have run as late as mid-Nov in the past)
$200?

My point wasn't about a drop in filter , it was about the stock airbox with the AFE deflector plate in place against an aftermarket intake !! I have said which one will perform better !! Use that information as you may.

All dynos have shown consistent 8-10 RWHP and 20 RWTQ gains with an intake (BMS and aFe), so I'd be curious to see Fletch F. Fletch's dyno procedures. Hood closed without proper fans to simulate airflow, then of course you can expect a loss of power. However that's not realistic since if you're driving, there's usually air hitting the front of the car. Usually.

Another member on F30Post who is also as methodical as olaosunt and has his 335i GT 8AT at the track often (and also owns a fast Mustang. Go figure.) gained a consistent and repeatable 0.1 and 1 MPH with just the addition of an aFe intake. Those are results in line with expectation...small, but results none the less.

What was the install like? Looks as if the bumper has to be pulled to install?

I have not seen any dyno pulls of stock vs BMS. makes me wonder if it would still loose peak numbers on the stock tune or with the jb4? Perhaps just a dinan thing or perhaps stage II dinan would fair better with BMS intake?

It will be interesting to see if and when we get some real world numbers of the Dinan Stage II when it gets released. That is looking to be a closed box intake, my personal preference. I am guesstimating the dinan intake to come in at $1200 based on pricing I have seen for other series.
G-Mann , be aware, those scoops are not compatible with the M235i. I found an aFe dealer on ebay, they do have them listed as compatible with the F22, so I almost purchase a set of the for my M235i, but first, just to be sure I drop them an email and they replied:

Dear e-autosports,

Hello sirs, I see you have this listed as compatible with the BMW F22, could you confirm if the M235i can take them?

Many thanks for the reply

Dear,

this is for the f22 but not for the m235i (just the 220i and 228i)
thanks!

They didn't give me any more details, I really don't understand why they wouldn't fit, but if you're willing to try, please let me know if they do fit

G man

AFE make a ram air scoop for the 4cyl and 6cyl f series cars.

When facing the car, 4cyl air intake is behind LH grille and m235i is behind RH grille.

I fitted AFE scoop for F30 335i on my m135i (same as m235i)

Thanks for the info. Alex and Dave. Would have been interesting if they had provided more details or if they had something in the works for the m235i

Thanks for the shout out.I too have "a fast mustang "...or two.
The "old one " runs 10.3@138 with a stock shift.I have given up trying to row it into the 9's and auto is going in this winter.
Will see what the new one runs with a twin turbo.lol
Anyway I digress.I posted my Dyno with the BMS intake in Alzorz's thread-I guess I am a professional hijacker lol .
The BMS intake gained a whooping 2 Hp but 17 ft/lbs of torque and shifted the curve to the left(more gains at Lower rpm).

Did you permanently remove the rubber flap AND the plastic piece that the rubber flap holds on or were they removed just for installation of the scoop?

No. Fletch posted in other threads so it's not like he/she dropped off of the face of the Earth but has never posted back in this thread with his/her results.
