Ha good find. Dad and I raced our M235 against our Macan S. Honestly for an SUV/crossover/whatever that thing can move.

He lifted first in the Macan but it was pretty close, we were just messing around though so no real conclusions to be drawn. I did drive the Macan Philadelphia to Harrisburg in under an hour, was close to 100mph most of the time. Would say that for short trips, twists and turns the BMW has the edge. That said highway trips, bad weather, anything you'd be in the car more than an hour you'd be hard pressed to find literally anything out there better than the Macan.

The Macan Turbo starts at $73k and is faster 0-60 than the new F80 M3.

That Porsche is a beast in Turbo form(at least from a dig haha)
After that the M3 rockets forward.

The S is also a twin turbo they just don't call it that much to preserve Turbo branding / allure. If anyone is thinking about one I'd highly recommend driving both back to back. I could not even come close to justifying the extra $$ for the big boy one.

The power difference between Macan Turbo and M235i is quite high. I think that the bimmer will overpass it at speeds over 125 mph..

The Macan is rock solid at that speed, M235 on East Coast roads at least gets a little sketch.

Hmmm, I honestly thought it was a naturally aspirated motor.

I really wanted to get the macan but the price was unexpectedly astronomical. The entry level diesel costs the same as an M3 here!

Really? I don't know why you are all so happy that M235i/M3 is slightly faster once rolling? That is a shame. Most don't care about handling and fun, but about outright fast acceleration (main reason why Tesla sells, not because green or whatever). If large SUV's are almost as fast as sedans, and sedans almost as fast as supercars, and small 'cheap' hatches faster than sports cars, what incentives to people have to buy a much more expensive and far less practical sports car, when a cheaper and more practical alternative can offer the same performance (for most straight line acceleration and most useful on road)? No wonder sports cars are not selling (at least in Europe).

Sports cars need some revolution. 4C, i8 and NSX might be the first step towards that.

You're thinking of the Cayenne, which is NA. The Macan is a completely different animal. And yes, they can get expensive rather quickly.

The thing I really can't understand is why anyone would buy an S Q5.

I don't know hey. The SQ5 and Macan Diesel share the same engine, but the SQ5 is much cheaper and specced really well. I've seen many SQ5s on the road and no Macan Diesels yet. I've only seen a Macan S on the road so far lol!

That's a circuit/track video. He meant a beast in a drag race, aka straight line accellaration. The M3 will destroy a base 911 in a similar race as the Macan vs. F80 video shows.

F80 M3's with a JB4+fuel can easily pull on stock GT-Rs and are not to far behind FBO+E85 GTRs. You have to pay $150-$200k for a Porsche with that kind of acceleration.

Track numbers are cool, but for the 90% of us that don't track we could care less about balls out track performance.

Give the M3 xDrive and it will be another story.
