Doesn't look that bad, just more than expected for a mod of this type.

I guess you don't like modding then.

Yes, it's not a simple remove oem diverter valve and replace with new one type of thing. The only tricky part as I mentioned before is removing the oem diverter valve since u need to reach it from the bottom of car, and screws are somewhat difficult to reach due to position. Otherwise, other steps in the installation manual is quite straight forward.

how about recirculating type? no sound?

One of the reasons why I installed a BOV is because I had a HKS BOV on my old Mitsubishi Evolution X. I missed the 'pppsstt' sound ever since. Thus, I had to install a BOV for the m235i.

The kit comes with all the necessary bits. A blue spring is installed in the BOV from the box. It comes with an extra red spring for higher boost. I used the blue spring since I didn't do any engine mods yet. The instructions were clear with plenty of photos.

Compared to the HKS BOV, the Forge BOV is not as loud, less sharp and less ear piercing. If you like your BOV to be loud and attention grabbing, Forge may not be your cup of tea. But if you like your BOV sound to be smooth, less obnoxious but still have some volume and a few heads turning, then you would like the Forge BOV.

Here is a link to a short clip I made. Of course, if you have any questions, or if you need more sound clips, feel free to ask. I'll try to help. Cheers!

Hey awesome write up One question why did you choose the atmospheric type BOV? for the sound only?

If I go with the recirculating type does it mean that the sound should be the same as stock? I merely want to run higher boost.

Thanks

Hi there. Thanks!
Yes, I chose the atmospheric BOV mainly for the sound. Also, I plan to get a tune with higher boost in the near future, so it will be more durable than the stock diverter valve.
The recirculating type sound should be similar to stock I'm guessing. Perhaps shoot an email to Forge for confirmation. If you only want to run higher boost, and you don't want the sound, then I would suggest to get the recirculating type instead.

Hi bizfiend. How do you like this Forge BOV?
And what was causing the errors before?

Hi.
The BOV sounds really good and pronounced. Not too high pitched.

The engine light turned on when I drove away after installation and for about 1-2 weeks we could not find the reason why it sounded so weird.

In the end the mechanic put the car up to watch the value from under the car while someone rev'd it. He noticed the valve was not opening and closing.

He then completely removed the valve and opened it.

It turns out the valve came with a wax or some type of grease that was too thick and hard which caused the valve to not open and shut properly. He cleaned it out and used a different grease, and the O-ring needed to be replaced because the original one got destroyed in the first installation.

After this it works perfectly.

How much were you charged to install this and how long did it take.
Did it work after the first time installing.
I paid $240CAD for the whole installing time because they didn't know what the problem was and no one has experience installing BOV on this car. HO LUN MA FAN

Where did you order your rear diffuser from, and did it come painted or did you have to get it painted.

Do you have jb4.

What lowering springs are you using.

I just saw your new downpipe, sounds pretty good.

Thanks.

Oh man that must have sucked. At least everything's all cool now. Glad you like it.
Similar price to get it installed. It took about half a day, maybe 3-5 hrs? Yes, it worked immediately after install. I used the blue spring.

Ordered the rear diffuser (M performance) from a shop in HK called Valiant. Originally black colour so had to get it painted.

No JB4. No tune yet. Will consider the Manhart piggyback maybe in the near future.

I have the KW's V2.

Thanks! I'm surprised the downpipe has pretty good improvement over the sound and power.

Nice

If it only it wasn't illegal in my country, it would go well with my GruppeM intake

Also great video, the blow off noise certainly turns heads

Does BMW have issues with vent to atmosphere blow off valves with running rich between shifts? Some prior cars I had couldn't compensate for the lost air between shifts. Anxious to hear back about this. Thanks!

not really needed unless you go Stage 2 turbos.

I would do the charge pipe, fmic piping, fmic to turbo piping before this.

it was ma lun fan for me cause it was the first time the mechanic did it. now that he's done it, he knows how to do it.

it sounds way better while driving compared to revving in park.
