Why not read my other posts, the gauge wasn't at empty but the range read -- miles remaining. Either I have a defective gauge or I'll have to rely exclusively on the computer range.

In his defense, some cars have absolutely huge reserves below the 0 mile mark on the trip computer. My Mazda 3 has something like 2 gallons left in the tank when you hit 0 miles on the trip computer. I have gone around 30 miles past 0 in that car. Of course, I'd have run to 0 and fill up to calculate how much gas was left first.

My overall average shown by the trip comp is 22.8 at the moment. I haven't exactly been attempting to conserve gas, though.

I live in Ecopro in my auto for the good majority, with a few rips in Sport, some passing in Comfort. My driving is 70% highway. I'm at 25mpg, better than my 335xi so that's all I care about.

I haven't kept the best track of the mileage, but I would guess low 20s.

One funny thing I have noticed is that when you fill it up with gas, the auto shutoff seems to be "quicker" than either of my 135s. I like seeing the needle all the way full - so it takes some coaxing with the pump clicking off 100 times to get it there...small gripe, but a gripe.

EDIT - mine is a manual.

Additionally, I like to have an idea of how "accurate" those calculations are as well - with my N55 135, you could go a solid 10 miles when it read "0" as long as you were babying it.

You never know when you might be in a situation where you are forced to push that limit a little - it is good to know that there is less left when it hits "0" than my 135.

Also could people post what model you are driving? (m235, 228i, etc)
My friend just got a 335xi and he has been experiencing horrible mileage. Definitely not what is said to get.
I right now I get 19-21mpg in my 135i mostly local roads with little highway.
When i did a 400 mile drive i got over 30mpg keeping it just under 80 MPH.

I am hoping from all the mpg hype on the M235i i can get 35mpg highway and 25mpg local

I'm 3/4 of a way through my first tank of gas, and I'm averaging 21 MPG. I don't use EcoPro at all, and most of my mileage is city driving. I will say this though, maybe I've just driven more since I've been excited about the car, maybe it is the MPG difference, or maybe the tank is smaller (haven't researched tank size and haven't had to fill up yet), but my F30 328i could drive two weeks on a tank of gas. I'm only about 5 days in on this one, and I'm already at a quarter of a tank. I also only use 91 octane, and it never cost me over $50 to fill the 328i (granted I rarely run the car more than a mile or two after the gas light is on). I'll be interested to see what a fill up runs for the M235.

I got the auto trans on my m235i and if i cruise control at 70mph I get 33, but my highway driving usually comes out to 30 even. My average with city has been about 22 and I definitely drive it hard.

How many miles do people have on there cars? Could this be car isn't broken in yet? Maybe it's needs to be past the break in period for optimal mpg.

Ok looks like your getting decent numbers for mpg. So maybe the more you drive the better it will get.

My other choices for a new car were either an Evo or Sti, and this is still beating those in mpg so I'm happy with it

I didn't specify my mpg on the highway. On highway, I'm averaging 32/33 range leaving cruise on. If I took cruise off and used proper speeds & eco pro coast functionality to maximize mpg, I'm sure I could get it up to 35 easily, but that takes work and cruise is for cruising, amirite?

I am just at 1100 now - I am sure that has something to do with me not getting great mileage, or it could be that I am in Sport + 99% of the time and don't baby it very much.
