BMS intake CEL

hey guys so like the title says, i reinstalled my BMS intake and got a CEL i ran the code and it pretty much said that the MAF was reading too much air. Do any of you guys have suggestions or advice on how I can use my intake or why its causing a CEL?

Well the intake shouldn't give a CEL anyway

Only suggestion I would have is removing the cone and making sure the area is clean where it meets the adapter and also from the adapter to the intake piping. Maybe something isn't completely tight so it's pulling in extra air from somewhere.

Np. Hope it works out for you. Really odd that it would be fine originally and now it's not. A motor swap doesn't change the ecu so it's not a difference if a computer

It seems that the BMS intakes are hit or miss. I know people who have installed them, never touched it again and it worked fine. Other people have installed it and have gotten a CEL almost right away.

I have the BMS intake on my M235i and got the same CEL reading as you did. I noticed that there was a rubber grommet over the nipple right before the MAF sensor that was a little loose. I took a small zip tie, tightened it onto the nipple and I haven't had a problem since. Now I don't know if doing that is what solved the issue or it just ironically happened at the same time, but it is something you can try!

Correct, if car is equipped with a JB4 you wont run with this issue for sure

Yea i dont have a jb4. But i dont understand why it didn't throw a code on the original motor. But it is on the new one. Cuz they never touched the ecu or anything

Each engine is its own air pump. Not all motors are created equal so maybe this one pulls ever so slightly more air and that's why it's triggering? I'm not a scientist 😁

Yea hopefully man. And for when i eventually get a jb4 i shouldnt worry about any maf codes or intake related codes right? Because the jb4 will automatically clear them?
