On VR-SPEED.COM it is listed as an option for the 5" street version... its an additional $120 for the High Density core. I was also looking for a different listing. I didnt find it until yesterday and ive been checking the site daily for a few weeks now.

Core volume is the same as the non-HD, the fin density is the same as the race FMIC and we're still waiting for testing from customers. We've had a couple customers send over logs for the 6" race core:

Ambient is right around 75 degrees, the pull starts at 89 degrees, drops down to 82 and ends at 86 degrees. It's difficult to say without back to back testing but I'd be willing to bet this is hands down the best performing intercooler currently available for the F30 platform.

Do you have any additional testimonies or data on the 5" stepped HD finpack...? Any back to back to stock or standard 5"stepped finpack.?

Anyone have a DIY install guide for the VRSF race inter-cooler. Does the front bumper have to come off?

What is the actual fin density per square inch ? 10?20?

Is this 100% bolt-on, no modifications required.. The crazy Dinan one requires a checklist of modifications to fit.

Are these made overseas or in the USA?

They are direct fit, no bumper removal needed (afaik).

I'll be ordering one next week with all of this sale/free shipping awesomeness.

Just torn between the HD 5" or 6" Race, don't want to regret it later...

Hey Mike,

FBO being - Catless DP, IC Upgrade, Charge Pipes, JB4, Pure inlet mod, AFE drop in filter? If so, I'll go for the 6". That will be the extent of my engine mods for years to come.

I also track the car often enough and don't want to regret it later if I decide to go with a turbo upgrade when the OEM unit craps the bed down the road. I also don't want any negative impacts like reduced throttle response or lag that can come from going overboard in the interim.

I guess at the end of the day it's only 1" of height difference, might as well? ... Will hit you up next week to make an order!

You will definitely need the 6" VRSF then ... That 1" difference will get you a very noticeable performance upgrade

There isn't a difference in lag or response with the 6.5" intercooler over the stock unit

Tiago, what is the fin density per inch, and what is the total weight for the race intercooler ?

What happened to posting pictures of the fin packs between competitors models?

10 fins per inch, this is one of the densest fin packs available. Twice as many fins vs Wagner and slightly denser than ER.
