Can someone explain to me about this snow valve? I'm heavily debating this product and I've never heard of a snow valve until this thread. I live in the east and it definitely snows hereduring the winter(and sometimes other times too). What does his snow valve do and how worried should I be? I believe my car has the cold weather package. It's xdrive and has heated steering wheel etc

If you're going to pick up the Dinan CAI and your car has this little valve it's not a big deal to install the intake. If you don't have the valve it's even easier to install.

Not sure what your concern is though? Is it removing the valve? If so, I'm in Canada and winters are just as brutal here as they are on the US East Coast.

You can also check from yourself to see if you have the valve. Open the air box, remove the filter and look down into the bottom of the air box. If you have the valve you'll see the flap assembly in the bottom. If not, you don't have the snow valve.

The valve has something to with the primary intake being completely blocked with snow and ice (which would be pretty rare frankly) and somehow this valve would open if that were to happen...but highly unlikely you'd let that much snow and ice clog up the air intake.

Non-issue IMHO

I've never checked to see if it has the valve. I just assumed it did since where I live it snow. Any pics of this snow valve? So I know what to look for? Info drive my car in winter as well as its my daily driver too all year long. As long as I don't suck up rain or snow I'm happy. I guess that's what this valve is trying to do in some way. I'd love to see a pic of this thing

Closest you'd get to a pick I think is from the PDF instruction short on the Dinan site. I think it was on page 6.

Chances are excellent you have the valve. If I'm not mistaken Dinan includes the "snow valve kit" with the intake. worst case just make sure you specify it when ordering the intake.

Also, the part, if not included could be $35. I seem to recall that from somewhere on the forum.

Snow valve kit is in every intake kit. No need to specify when ordering.

Right, mine was for sure. Just thought I remembered a forum member mentioning it, but that was ages ago and I obviously didn't remember correctly!

I am in cali and I assumed I wouldn't have a snow valve. nope the damn thing was in there and it took half the time to install the intake cause I didn't have the proper tools(drill)

love the intake though!

Maybe they're in all 235s now regardless of geography. Weird.

Anyway, enjoy the intake!!

Have had mine on for 3 months now, no error codes, no problems what so ever! Just the loud whisp everytime the turbo spool and I would say a noticeable power increase.

I just installed my Dinan cold air intake. I have not even seen any others so I have no comparisons to go with but being a retired custom fabricator I will say that it's deffinatly not up to my standards and will require watching for awhile. Fitment of the air box top is also very poor . However, I'd swear that my butt dyno says there's more power .

Is there any splicing, cutting, etc to the factory components in any way that would prohibit me from swapping back to the stock intake at anytime?? Heavily considering this intake for weeks vs the two AFE choices

There's no cutting or splicing BUT you do need to remove the snow valve and rivet a supplied plate in place if that snow valve.

That said, that wouldn't necessarily prevent you from replacing with the stock intake down the road.

No cutting or splicing, I will have to throw the stock intake back on in order to pass the smog check BS , only takes a few minutes. It's one of the main reasons I chose the Dinan

Thats awesome! I wasnt sure if the Dinan included a larger MAF to put in. I got confused on some of it.

This is Dinan intake with Armytrix exhaust plus JB4 and decat DP for referance

Heres interior... Turbo spool is more pronounced partially by decat DP and also by Dinan CAI...

Intake is well engineered to use factory induction via front end fresh air intake but as OP has stated preformed top section of box is poorly formed. I went to Lowes and grabbed some 3/8" door/window weather stripping to seal from Dinan top section to stock air box

Ryan I sucked it up and bought the thing along with a ecu tune today. The intake itself you notice to be much more peppy and responsive.

Nice sound to it as well. You really hear the turbo. I couldn't stop smiling. I'll take a vid for you tmrw
