Edit I am told it\'s the first US m235i with M2 exhaust.

Thought I would post up some info, I just more or less finished installing a factory M2 exhaust I purchased from M5monster on here (great guy and been a huge help).

First off I think it's the best sounding available not too loud and no droning when just cruising I really despise that fart can ricer sound we all know too well.

The install is pretty simple I measure and compared the 235 pipes to the m2 the resonator was the same part number and each curve and diameter was the same. So I decided to simply cut the factory muffler near to the area I believe people cut for the M-perf muffler.

Took some time, well a good amount of time moving it around to get the tips level and placed it does not hit or rub anything. Not bad so far.

The worst was trimming the stock fairing to fit the quad tips since nobody makes one, that is not yet. Taped it off measured 50+ times then used a small cut off wheel and took my time. It looks good but I know it's not a fully finished piece and that bothers me. I may use this cut one as a template to make one or have one made from CF.

The sound is like a drug I apologize for not having a sound clip yet it doing something insane in SoCal, it's raining !!!

In the attached pics you can see what and where I cut and how it looks now with the cut fairing.

Cool. Funny thing is that M2 exhaust is cheaper then M-PERFORMANCE one. So this might be a great alternative

I have an mperf exhaust for now but will change it later down the road. My mperf with catless is not bad but I want something with a little more aggression. I like the look of the quad tips and was wondering is there an m2 mperf or is it just m2 stock exhaust? Silly question cause I guess it would be already mperf on an M car? I really would like to hear sound clips with a catless DP.

Thank you but M5monster and fasteddy1 really really helped with thoughts and info. Could not have done it without them.

As far as perf gains, again it's raining so traction is at a minimum right now butt dunno says maybe a few.

It's more the sound that causes the never ending smile. Makes me turn the radio down and do my best to try fir a stupid large ticket.

Video/sound soon, weather says rain will stop around Wednesday.

Figured it almost never rains in SoCal only when I really don't want it to.

Cool Mod! was thinking about doing this but also considering an electric cutout before the muffler with valve that I can open and close giving me both Stock Exhaust and Muffler delete to go along with my Catless downpipe

here is the sound of an m2 exhaust on m235i if anyone is looking for it^

Nice job! I am looking forward to more sound clips. I will be installing my M2 exhaust on my M240i hopefully soon. I have the exhaust and am waiting on an M2 rear diffuser. My plan for now is to combine the M2 and stock diffusers. I am not sure how that will look yet though.

The rear bumper on the M2 and M235/240 are quite a bit different. The M2 diffuser sticks out a lot further.

Kudos to you for having the courage to cut your stock exhaust.
Let us know the reaction your getting to the music coming out of your pipes.

Nice swap, but I don't like how far the tailpipes stick out from underneath the bumper. I like my exhaust tips neatly tucked away.

I have the 3ddesign 2-tip carbon diffuser and would love to swap it for the 4-tip one with the M2 M Performance exhaust, but I doubt it will fit. The 4-tip version is specifically designed for their own 4-tip exhuast AFAIK. The 3ddesign diffusers were available long before the M2 was even confirmed.

Not to mention the associated costs. The 3ddesign diffuers are extremely pricey and then you'd have to get an M2 M Performance exhaust which is in itself not exactly cheap either. Then you'd have to get it all to fit. My guess is that you're gonna have a very bad time.

I have to agree with wjjkoevoets

Unless you can get your hands on a stock M2 exhaust or even a M2 MPE exhaust for very cheap... i just dont feel like it's worth the time/effort. All in the pursuit so it can sound like an M2?

Dont get me Wrong OP's work was great and its cool and all just not my cup of tea.

Be interesting tho to see if some of those 4tip Diffusers like 3D Design for the 235 would fit with that M2 exhaust.

What exhaust clamp did you use? Did you reuse the muffler hangers off the stock exhaust?

Edit: probably used BMW clamp and the hangers are the same PN between m2 and m235 stock exhausts, so he probably reused the originals.
