If I only change the stock muffler to M Performance muffler will it makes any difference? I just want it to sound a little bit louder and better that's all. Don't need to increase in performance. 2016 F22 M235i xDrive.

Yes, it will sound a lot better. I ran it for 1 year before adding the HJS Euro 6 downpipe which was just icing on the cake to the sound improvement without drone or impacts to cabin noise.

Just try removing the small 'square' mid pipe first. I think you will be happy!!!
And..... way less cheaper.

If you install the MPE and add the diffuser, it will even sound better.

Diffuser? Can you elaborate a little more on that?

You will see pictures in the following link.

https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...0i-51192343355

The diffuser provides a little more deeper throaty sound because of the baffles being close to the MPE.

A diffuser will not effect the sound at all It's just a piece of plastic on the bumper cover. I have the diffuser. It looks great but did nothing for sound.

I promise you that deleting the mid pipe resonator will not make the car sound anything like the MP exhaust. The MP exhaust, though expensive, is a quality factory piece that really enhances the sound as the muffler can was specifically designed for the N55 unlike all other aftermarket exhausts on the market which use universal mufflers. The MP exhaust also fits perfectly which can't be said for an aftermarket exhaust. They all require fiddling to fit perfectly.

Do MP or Dinan muffler with Dinan mid pipe.
Sounds great IMO.

100% correct!
But the criteria was "a little bit louder".....

A high flow downpipe and resonator delete sounds nice. Won’t sound like the MPE, but a nice improvement over stock.

I do kinda agree. I wouldn't delete the resonator, but a high quality catted downpipe only costs about $300-600 more than the MP exhaust and it will gain you around 20whp/25wtq across the entire powerband with no tuning mods needed, better throttle response, increased turbo life, and 10-15% louder, better and cleaner exhaust sound with no drone. I'd start there first. I hate drone and overly loud exhausts that sound impact the cabin. I find my HJS Euro 6 DP teamed with the MP exhaust to sound magical and almost exotic.

It provides resonance believe it or not. It doesn't change the sound of the MPE.

Is there any drone with the MPE?

On the highway is it louder than stock?

No it is not louder but quiet unless you go full throttle.

I have followed this thread with perplexity. The rest of us have no idea what OP thinks a better sound is. I suggest that OP try and find a 235 with an MPE and decide for him/herself whether that is what they want to hear.
Otherwise, we are all dancing in the dark, so to speak.
