I think I need more whoooosh!

Just a "deep thoughts" moment from me. I live in Texas and used to have the AP intake. I loved the added sound. I found a nicely priced Dinan intake so decided to do a closed system intake since it gets hot as blazes down here in the summer. I sold my AP but now kind of wish I kept it to swap out during the colder months. Am I crazy that I kind of want to either sell the Dinan intake or just buy an open intake again so I can swap? My mind is saying no, but my body..my body is saying yes.

Why would you want to suck hot air from the engine compartment. Keep the Dinan intake. A much better design.

I don't. And That's my point. In colder months it's probably negligible. Also, I'm not really racing my car so how much does it matter. The delta between an open and closed intake is so small that unless I'm on a track, does it matter? But here in Texas the heat can be so extreme that a closed system in the summer might make a small different. Again, more of a journal entry here than anything. I just love that sound. And Dinan ain't giving it. Hehe.

I should also note I'm on the B58 platform. If that matters.

The Injen intake on my N20 induced so much whooosh that I couldn’t stand it after awhile. They make one for the B58, I believe. — their filters let a lot of s**t in though from what I discovered upon removing it, and I cleaned those things on a regular basis. Swapped out fresh three times in 20k miles... but it’s loud!

Damn! I loved the AP. Didn't notice and issues with debris.

Yeah, I haven’t heard anything major from anyone else about it either, so I can’t condemn it. But I’m all set with that, personally. When the turbo is louder than the exhaust note by double, something feels off.

It could have just been my driving also that pulled in all that grime... I’ve put about 30k miles on the car in under 2 years.

I'm running a Remus exhaust with a CG downpipe. So even an AP isn't going to drain that out. Just enjoy the vanity of that extra sound. Are you running on the b58 injen system or the m235?

Have you checked for a hole in the seal or filter?

Oh yeah, you’re fine then haha. I was running on the N20 4-banger with MP exhaust — That thing looked like a second motor in my engine bay! Wicked cool to look at but even the MP exhaust couldn’t strike a noise balance. You may want to give Injen a shot.

I’m back to stock now so it’s all buttoned up
