M235 parts (crash)

Does anyone know how long it is taking for 2 series parts to get to the dealer currently? I got rear ended pretty badly on the highway this evening and have not been able to talk to anyone at BMW yet. Car had just hit 3,000 miles.....

Yes, Its bad... but not that bad... I am sure you will have it ready soon... In other BMW´s I had parts that were only available in Germany in about a week... so worst you are looking out is 15 days... at most. Parts availability should be scarce at the dealers I am afraid...

Man that sucks! I have no idea about BMW but there are numerous horror stories about high demand model MB's not being able to be fixed for months because of a lack of parts recently. Any back story? what hit you?

Good luck!

It went from highway speed to traffic, I stopped and the lady behind me (driving a large toyota SUV) also stopped, but there was a younger girl behind her in a sedan that was not paying attention (possibly texting not sure) and rammed her at full speed which caused the SUV to ram me forward and then caught up with me and hit me again. all in all I was impressed with how little damage the litter 2er took after all both of there cars were completely totaled.

Maybe ordering M performance rear end + diffuser will make the waiting time less? : )

Damn sorry to hear and see this. I was rear-ended 2 days after I took delivery. My car is in the shop right now, and when my bumper was ordered there were 4 available in the US (that was about a month ago). They are also replacing a heat shield that protects the exhaust and there were 20 of those. Your damage is much more than mine though, so I could possibly see you having an issue on parts.

My accident was similar in nature, I was stopped at a light and a lady 3 cars back didn't stop. Her van hit another van, which hit the Honda that was directly behind me.

Thanks for the info, I remember reading your post when it happened and I was hoping you would know. Yea I will for sure need a whole new exhaust system I assume since it was pretty much dragging on the ground

Sorry to hear about your accident. Thankfully no one was hurt.

Good to know the 2 series is built like a little tank!

Inadvertently my 3 has been to the body shop three times and each time it takes just about 6 to 9 weeks for the entire process to work its way through. Worth mentioning not one of those incidents were my fault. In one of them somebody in another identical three series hit me from behind very much like yours, at a slow speed. Each time they place me in a rental from enterprise or hertz. It is a truly humbling experience in that the rental is always very uncomfortable compared to my bimmer. It really shows regardless of where we are in our careers, how blessed we all are to be able to have bimmers. We are all very passionate about our bimmers. At least for me, I am reminded that to be able to do that is a privilege.

I can relate as I'm driving a Nissan Sentra right now as my car gets fixed. My back feels like crap all week from driving it. Tried getting the seat positioned right but there is absolutely no way to make that car comfortable. I can't wait to get my bluetooth and comfort access back either!

Ouch! So sorry for you man. That really sucks, but glad you're safe.
I just got mine on Tuesday and shudder to think how long I'll be able to drive in LA before some knucklehead clips me like this.

Definitely use this as an opportunity to upgrade to the M Performance Exhaust. I just got mine and it sounds great. Plus I hear they're made with a special alloy that helps repel rear end collisions. :-)

Good luck getting her back in top form!

Just heard my rear diffuser was cracked as well and they aren't sure about availability yet. They are saying if it is available in the US, they will have it by tomorrow. I hope I don't start running into any more delays.

Sorry to hear, make sure you take it back to BMW collision center. I hope they can color match the paint...

Its so new color matching won't be an issue. Once paint fades is when it becomes difficult.
