Wait for the M2 or go for an M235i?

Not really sure at this point.

What should the pricing be around for the M2? Is it truly worth the wait, or should I pull the trigger on an M235i and see where it goes.

Heard way too many good things about the M235i to not get one :P

Much appreciated

This dilemma applies to all sorts of things: computers, monitors, cellphones, radio control systems, you-name-it.

The problem, as I see it, is if you keep waiting for the next (supposedly better) model, you'll never get it.

The M2 is going to be intoxicating! but I can't wait

I might go the m235i route and throw in some tuning.

Agreed, thats why I went ahead and pulled the trigger now on the M235i. Maybe in 3-4 years I can let them make all the refinements to the M2 and then pick it up.

+1 on that. Though it won't be an m2 after some mods it'll be just as fun. But them hips on the M2

Depends if you are buying or leasing. And if buying, how long do you keep your cars?

Honestly, if the M2 wasn't coming out, I would have been happy with ordering an M235i to add to my E92. But I don't lease, and I keep my cars for over 4 years (most of the time). So considering I'm in no need to add a car right at this moment, it only made sense to wait for the M2.

My rule is that you should always try to get the highest end model possible, so that there are no or little buyer's remorse (as long as you can afford it of course).

By a WRX new and sell it in 2016 for less than 5% hit. I traded my 2013 WRX in on the M235i and only took a $680 hit off the original sticker price. They hold their value and fun as hell. Buy the M2 when it comes out; less of a loss.

If the price for the M2 is as expected, a shear 8-10k more, I would get the M235i, a nice tune will make up for the power difference and unless you're just made of money the M235i is definitely a much better bargain.

I'm waiting for the M2. I made the mistake of not waiting for the e92m back in 2006 and bought a 335. If you really want/need something fun right now, pick up a zero down swap lease e9xm for cheap that ends in 18 months. There are plenty available.

I'm waiting for the M2 and staying with a 135 MSprt for now.
I like the M235, but it just isn't enough of an upgrade from the 135, and is, in fact, a modest downgrade in some areas (that's just to me though - YMMV).

And I'll wait until about the third MY for the M2 so they can work out the kinks.

I am hoping and praying that they let the M3/M4 be the flagship with all the gadgets and tech bits, and make the M2 a trimmed-down raw pure driver like the 1M. I heard someone say "the M2 is just gonna be a parts bin car like the 1M...". I actually laughed out loud. The 1M really is the best car BMW has made in the last 15 years, and to dismiss it because of the way it came into existence is just pure ignorance. I HOPE they follow the 1M mold for the M2. I know that sounds like 1-series fanboy-ism, but looking at it objectively from a pure driving experience standpoint, I really think no M-car since the E46 has come close to the 1M for pure driving experience (though I will admit I have not driven all the models).

The M2 has the opportunity to carry THAT mantle: visceral, screaming kick-you-in-the-pants hooligan that gives the kind of experience the rest of the M line has gotten too refined to deliver.
Not hating on the rest of the M lineup - they are great for what they are, but the M line needs at least one vehicle that isn't so refined. We need something...raw.
Leave all the excess crap (nav, HUD, electronic diff, etc) for the M3 and up and let THEM be the technology showcases.

Anyway, here's to hoping...
