Im even ok with the production numbers that the 1M had annuall(y) but make it so for an entire life cycle. I.e. 3-5 years @ 2000-4000 units per year worldwide.

I was told today that you might get an early Christmas gift with the first prototypes at the end or turn of the year.

Seen this on the other thread. So I will reply here.

Scott26: i've spoken to someone who told me that there is NO 2 Gran Coupe (4 door) in the pipeline at all. No plans to make a 4 door. This is contrary to what you've stated in the past. I've also been told the M2 is "42 months away". Any further thoughts or updates regarding these 2 ideas/cars?
A 4dr model of the 2er has been designed. And make no mistake BMW are interested in such a model because it adds consistency to the Gran Coupe series and would be a successful profit unit.
The car is viable because of the modular architecture within the platform.

The car won't appear tomorrow. At least we are looking at a possible mid-late 2015 introduction. BMW need to assess the reaction regarding the CLA and A3 Sedan in regards to how they affect the next step ie C-Klasse and A4 especially in regards to upcoming replacements.

Another factor is at best the car will be a four seater and rear passenger leg room will not be class leading. But as some have said the potential for a four dr is high given the lukewarm reaction to the CLA et all and there is awareness that there is a grand opportunity to gate crash the segment and dominate because there is potential in the new 2er , a lot more potential especially the Gran Coupe.

For the time being the regular 2er can stand up to the CLA and all even minus the rear doors.

The next part of the 2er family commences next year with the launch of the 2er Cabrio along with a new entry petrol model and mid range diesel (European market only) and the 2er Cabrio in time from the summer six months from now.
Also arriving gives an indication of the future generations showing a series split between FWD and RWD.

The BMW 2er Active Tourer will premiere in Geneva March 2014. Introduction will be in the new year. For the segment the BMW will be the most driver orientated vehicle in its respective class.

A NA version of the S55 running to 9000 rpm in the M2 please That should also save 100 lbs or so of Turbo stuff. Add some CF and Alu to drop another 150 lbs and we have an absolute barn stormer to rule the track and streets GT3 style.

Do you detune the M3/4 engine or try and squeeze 50 MORE horses outta the N55?
+1 M2 seems a bit redundant and squeezing a little to tight between the two and M235i has more MSport dna than some pure m models. However if the m235i is offered with electric steering and m2 with hydraulic there might just be that much space left

I see what you're saying - but now that I've been sampling n54 torque levels - I will REALLY have a tough time going back to a gutless low-end. And that's after having built an e36 M3 to 11:1 compression, cams, etc,... screamed like a banshee.

But, in my opinion:

Keep the turbos,... and make sure the M2 has 6 cyls. Take it from the M3/4, or tweak the n55 - I don't care. Just keep the torque, and give me a reasonably high redline. 7k will suffice.

Or say a ~380 hp high revving NA version of the S55 and make it 200 lbs lighter than the M3/M4. It would be a vastly different beast fro the M235i and M3/M4 that have a lot less overall power than the F8Xs and not infringe on it's performance superiority but for many it would be a greater car and truer to M heritage.

Then you have the M3/M4 to suit you perfectly ( or a tuned M235i ). I've owned the N54, N55 and the S65 ( and many other NA BMW cars before ). I like the turbo engines but love the NA M engines. A NA S55 version in the M2 would give us all a choice to what we like the best, again a page from Porsche with their turbo/turbo S and GT3.

I really want to see a picture of the 19s, as I think the car needs a wider stance.

May get the M performance suspension just to make it look a little bit more aggressive.

I'm sure it's already been answered, but when are we seeing deliveries??

Any idea when we can expect an ordering guide with prices? How long after a car is shown do they release that information?

As it looks from the German order guide the 19s will not be any wider just taller. I agree that it will need 19s to balance the design and the 10mm extra drop from the perf. suspension should complete the side profile. I hope the US guide will have wider 19 wheels and rubber but I doubt it.

http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/acc...ies_3door.html I guess M Performance parts from M135i will fit nice - like 19 wheels and black "side sticker"... http://youtu.be/6lVRuANgx6Q
