M235i Road Noise Question

I have been eyeing the BMW M235i for a bit now. I was wondering on the scale of 1-10 how much road noise you hear when driving in the city and highway. This would be my daily driver and I would average about 80 miles a day. I know that some of the engine noise I pumped into the car but I am more concerned about other noises.

in Comfort mode without synthetic exhaust very quiet in city, higher highway speed mild road noise no wind noise. Michelin Pilot SS shod.

Sport mode and accentuated exhaust louder but very nice.

If your roads are well paved car is perfect daily driver. If your roads are torn up then low profile tires need coaxing.

I do about 40 miles for my daily commute on city roads and highway (comfort mode). The road noise is not distracting but it's not totally absent. Probably about a 5 on your scale. I'm on run flat tires. Recently did a 1600 mile round trip to FL and it was a very comfortable cruise!

Compared to my past 2004 Mazda RX-8, road noise in my M235i is about a 2. When compared to my 2012 Mercedes Benz GLK350, it's about a 4.

Just depends on where you're coming from, I think. But yes, the "noise" is somewhat adjustable with the mood switch and active sound settings.

That is really good to hear. I am coming from a Nissan Altima. I live in the Chicagoland area so the roads are not always nicely paved given our fridged winters. I appreciate the insight.

My scale of exterior/road noise: (10 is LOUD and 1 is quiet)
Honda Fit = 9-10
WRX = 7-8
M235i = 4
E90 M3 = 3-4
F10 535 = 1-2
