Agreed,
So, are you going for the the same M235i config (MY2016) as a replacement or are you upgrading to a 228i?

BMW isn't going to tell an owner to drive in their car for inspection if there's even a remote chance something serious or life-threatening could fail. In that case, they would dispatch a flatbed hauler and pick it up.

The liability costs of any incident would be very problematic for them...

So, if I happened to be one of the "lucky few" that won in this lotto, I wouldn't be concerned at all about them keeping my car while my replacement was delivered, unless we're looking at some type of really extended time frame for delivery.

Like I said, either way I get a new 235. If they keep it, so be it. I ain't bothered one bit.

Here's an article about the corrosion concerns:

hehe...well, I think I'll be sticking with my current config. Also had a look at the '16 options list and doesn't look like anything (material) has changed. I like my MG & Terra interior actually, so I'll be sticking with that; although EB did pop into my head...in any case, I have a few days to mull it over before pulling the trigger.

You don't need to stay in the 2 Series family. You can use this chance to change to any car. So jump on that M4 you always wanted

After I got the call, I'd considered an m3, but I really love the 235, so sticking with it!

I told them I had a full front film protection put and paid $2K for it, so I'm getting a big credit for that (apparently $3500). I had also replaced the kidney grills (which I'm getting back) and painted front reflectors which I'm going to take a loss on (no biggie).

Also asked about upgrading to a M2 prior to production starting on my 2016. They said it's totally fine except the problem is there's no order guide even available in Canada yet so I can't really order without knowing what it's going to cost me.

If I can't get the M2, I'll probably add on the executive package that I decided to forego initially which includes adaptive headlights, collision warning, HK system, & integrated garage door opener
Well, handed in my car to the dealer yesterday. No inspection, just took it off me right away. I was told it was apparently one of the "emergency" ones that had to come back ASAP.

They gave me a brand new m235i MW/red leather loaded as a loaner, even changed the kidney grills with the black ones I had on my car. They are also giving me a $3300 credit towards the clear film protection I had done to the entire front of my car and I don't make any car payments until my new car arrives.

Took this opportunity to add an extra package on the vehicle (had to pay the higher monthly difference, but no biggie).

BMW Dealership owner also told me should the M2 ordering/pricing be available prior to my car beginning production, we can discuss upgrading to that as well which is sweet! Except here in Canada, I don't see that happening in October, which is when my car's production begins.

Also contemplating changing my order from EB2/black interior to superman combo. That red interior is pretty sweet!

I just picked up my replacement vehicle, and I must admit it's love all over again. There's a few nice tweaks to the MY16 vehicles. Best of luck to everyone else getting your vehicles.

Wow, congrats. You're lucky you get a replacement so fast.
I ordered a M235i xDrive cabrio to replace my 228i xDrive cabrio, but it's probably gonna take 6 - 8 weeks to get here, but, at least I get to keep driving my 228i 'til the 235 gets here (hopefully before the 1st ice storm in Halifax).

Had the new car for a spin today after installing my JB4 and intake, I was feeling the car was riding a little harsh. When I got home I had a look at the wheel wells and noticed they had left the transit spacers in the shocks... Arghh.

Back to the dealer I go!

Anything in particular? Just curious as my 2016 arrives in another two weeks. Wondering if there’s any major differences that I’d notice from the 2015’s I test drove (aside from the new 2016 exclusive transit spacers ).

The navigation until appears to be different. Minor tweaks to the user interface, and it feels faster. The trim around my hvac controls is a gloss black instead of matte, there's a small pad on the side of the transmission tunnel near the drivers knees, and a variety of the switches are silver instead of black on the Seats.

Checked bmwvin.com with the last 7 digits of the VIN of the 2016 M235i xDrive ragtop I ordered to replace my recalled 228i ragtop and the production date had changed from the previous 0001-01-01 to 2105-09-08. , so I'm pretty stoked.

BTW - Is that production date an indication that production has started or is it an indication that production is complete??

What's your interim (loaner) ride?

Got a 328ix...but only until tomorrow. I can't take this loaner out of province (I'm going to Montreal next week). So...not sure what I'll be getting tomorrow.

There's a used m3 sitting on the showroom....

I don't think you're gonna get a lot of sympathy for having to put up with a 435 M Sport for a few weeks.
I'm happy they let me hold on to the 228i ragtop 'til the replacment M235i ragtop gets here..

Went in for my inspection as well... Passed with flying colors, but they still placed a new one on order for me. They then passed my keys back to me and said; enjoy your wheels for the next couple months while you wait for your new one... Drive it hard and enjoy it... just bring it back in one piece.

I must say, my car was always a blast to drive but it's been even sweeter since getting this news. Fuel economy is out the window, but I've been grinning ear to ear...

Ha! no, the recall is for any Canadian BMW & Mini that landed in Halifax this past March. Don't quote me, but believe it was around 2,700 vehicles affected.
