You guys are killing me! I so want to drive...but it's 18 hours and I can't take any time off from work right now. Longest road trip I've ever done solo is like 10 hours...is it as bad as I think it would be? Would basically have to do it in a 36 hour period and my weekend would be entirely spent on the road.

You are looking at the negatives and not the positives. Think of it as an adventure. Miami to Mobile the first day...fly down Friday, early enough to do the deal....they may even send a car to the airport to pick you up. Get the deal done early in the AM and head out to Mobile...or perhaps Tallahassee. by the time you hit Dallas your engine will be all broken in and you can then enjoy it. If the idea of spending 10 hours in the car for 2 days doesn't excite you...well I have done it more time than I can count and I still look forward to them.

I drove solo From Vegas to Austin, TX(16hrs) in a 330zhp manual a few years back. Had a blast!! Drove through some cool back roads and stopped to dine at some interesting hole in the wall type of joints. Lots of fun!! My only regret was not documenting it on video or something.

A few years back I drove my HD Road King from Sundance, WY (Sturgis) home to Greenville, SC in 2 days ...1700 miles.
If I could do that on a bike, the OP should be able to easily make this trip, barring any medical conditions. Personally, I'd do the drive back... |

Get in your car and hit the road. After all, it's not like you're driving a covered wagon, pulled by a couple of mules. Your car was meant to be driven. If you plan to only drive it to church on Sundays, don't bother picking it up. Get a Fiat 500. Or a Prius.

Haha I agree with most everyone else, drive it back! I'm picking my car up from SC in a few weeks - doing the performance center delivery - and am looking forward to the long trip back to Tejas. Packing a camera and a huge roll of blue painters tape in the carry on.

Hit the road bro and take a case of monster drinks, no dose pills and a pack of adult diapers! And let us know you made it home safe with the car.

Haha I swear I didn't think about the adult diapers already SO as much as I would have liked to do this drive, there just wasn't a way for me to get down to Florida yesterday, stupid work. Plus with Erika hitting that area right now would not have been the most fun start to the trip. I have already mapped out a few "alternate" routes to work to double my mileage for the next couple of weeks to finish the break in.

She's running great so far, only put about 100 miles on, but babying it as much as I can. A little worried about what the first 200 miles of it's life looked like, as the MPG indicator said something like 11.8 lol. Hopefully my super babying will balance it out.
