Snow tires, perhaps? If you're getting the PSS on there it won't be enjoyable to drive on in the winter.

I have run PSS on my 335 for several years in the DC winters but the times when it did snow even a dusting, the car was almost uncontrollable and plain dangerous.

For my 235, going with snows from December on.

I plan on driving my 128i with all seasons in the winter with bad weather. My 128i with all seasons has made it through some amazing weather.

I placed an order last Saturday for a M235i and I too am interested in knowing how you find out this information. Does it take a few days/weeks before a production date or VIN is assigned?

I placed my order on Aug 7th and just contacted my sales rep today. He told me the production timeline and than my VIN would be assigned the week before production so I should have a VIN sometime in the second week of September.

It seems to depend on cases. My CA told me he do not have estimated production week when he placed the order. (Possibly due to swapping allocation or so.) Then I found out the "estimated production week" by calling the 800 rep. But the vehicle actually started to be produced one week earlier.

It took me almost 2 weeks to find out my production schedule. Dealers won't have it the day you place the order. If your vehicle production started one week earlier I would be fully made. It really doesn't take that long for a car to go down the production line. You may be dealing with delayed reporting of your cars actual status.

No, if your dealer currently has allocations, they already know what's the estimated production week, else they either don't know what they are doing or they don't have an allocation and they are just trying to hook your order

Usually cars might go into production before the estimated production week cause they usually leave some buffer room in the production schedule in case something goes wrong or there is some delay of parts....else if everything goes smooth they will finish the cars earlier and start producing the ones for the next week

I kind of agree with this. But I heard another saying is that dealer usually get the allocation for next month at the beginning of each month. Is it possible that when he place the order on Aug 7th, dealer hadn't received that information from BMWNA?

Well that means that at the moment of posting the order the dealer didn't actually have an allocation

I am a little bit of a special case. Since I am overseas I go through BMWs overseas military/diplomatic sales program. From the way I understand the dealer here they never have allocations but when I order they send the order information to BMWNA and get the next available allocation. I have ordered two BMWs from the same program and have never had them mention once any allocation issues etc. Once I submitted my order documents and deposit the allocation was assigned it just had to go through an extra step. My sales rep may have had my allocation information earlier but didn't give me anything till I specifically asked for it. I think this system is much better than the stuff other people deal with back home because I never have to worry about a dealer playing the market saying we have no allocations but you can buy this fully loaded one with a bunch of stuff you may not want that is currently sittting on our lot. That and I get the best price you can possibly get on the car.

This would make me think that mine has finished production.

My SA hasn't got back to me yet...... This is a little aggravating considering I need to pay the balance before my car will be allowed to board a ship.

I am required to pay the entire balance of my vehicle before it will be released to the shipping company. It's a little messed up because I will be making loan payment (actually already have) and accruing interest charged without being in possession of the vehicle. I shouldn't be complaining though with the deal that I got. The reason is the company I purchased it through is in Germany and they need payment before it can leave the country.
