I might ask my dealer to let me drive one. I only get to see them in track days Not that I'll be changing my 2er soon but I'd like to try out those extra stallions M2 packs

I saw one up close when I went in the write the deal for my coming M240i. I think both are head-turners, but I have to agree with the comment about the more conservative looks (but still sporty) in the M235/40 being preferred. I'm happy with my decision not to go with the M2. It really came down to best fit for requirements. I wanted something faster, more comfortable for long commutes, and more efficient than my current DD.
I'd looked at 3- and 4-series and comparable Audi S3 and S4. Too much bloat in the larger cars, and the S3 just felt cramped after test-driving a M235.

I was at the Welt during Oktoberfest and got to check out and sit in the M2. Surprisingly, I liked the way it looked much more than I thought I would, except for the ugly rear end. It is a badass looking car. The more muscular look of the flared fenders, blue contrast stitching, M steering Wheel and full carbon trim in the interior, M wheels, and slight boost in performance are all nice to haves, but not enough to regret buying the M235i. It just isn't different enough. Many of those things you can do aftermarket to the 235 and 240 if you so desired. They did get the price point right though.

Yours is really important feedback. Please elaborate some, like what kind of driving do you do (highway, city, mountain) and how the 240 meets your recreational driving objectives.

With the perf exhaust I'm liking the sound of the M240 now with its pops and gurgles

I live in the tropics. Imagine Florida, but with lots of twisties... There are fantastic range roads that I know very well about 15 miles from my front door (see my avatar ) They range from very tight and technical to open sweepers. My fav has 263 corners in 11 miles, and a 3000' elevation change. See pic. My 240 (arrives in March) will be a toy, basically. I have driven a 240 demo on the ranges and it was fantastic. It was all you would ever need for real world sport driving. You just do not need the extra 10% that an M2 gives you - unless you are doing lots of track days. The 240 has more torque than the M2, and that is more important day to day than max HP. If you put the 240 in comfort mode it makes a wonderful Grand Tourer. It would be a fine day to day car. The M2 excites me in ways my 235 does not. The day to day comfort and performance isn't that far off between the two, but the M2 looks, sounds, feel, and exclusivity win me over. My M235xi is probably the best car I've ever owned but just because it's good at everything doesn't mean it's my favorite.

Someone at work just purchased one. Looks awesome but for the price and on top a dealer market it's not worth it. For less I'll have my tune added fabspeed cat and muffler delete, and intake.
I almost want to change my plates to m2 killer and park next to him
