m235i purchase question.

Hi everyone,

First post. Hoping to join the family! I am about to purchase a 2014 m235i. It has 31000 miles. Anything I need to look out for, and what can I expect, maintenance wise, at this mileage? Any major problems around this mileage?

Wish I could find one with lower mileage but it would be outside my budget.

I did a quick search and there are a few isolated issues with the HPFP for the 2014 model. The two I could find were in the first year of ownership.

A few more isolated issues:

Is the car still under the original warranty and are you able to purchase an extended new car warranty? A new turbo/transmission will cost a lot if you have issues out of warranty.

If you want peace of mind, get the car inspected by an independent BMW specialist before purchase. This will cost a few hundred but may save you thousands down the line.

All the best and hope you end up in a M235i soon

31,000 is not a lot of miles for a three-year old car.

Thanks I will definitely look into the HPFP. Purchasing from out of state. Want the car so bad I'm not even seeing it in person before purchasing. Never thought I'd do that. Just relying on carfax and pictures from dealer. Lots of people telling me its a big risk. Was looking into a 335is for ahwile. Potential from FBO was amazing but reliabailty of N55, among other things, sold me to the m235i. Im coming from a 2004 STI. I know the m235i will be an amazing car!

If the car is still under warranty you can extend through BMW at any dealer, either up to 75K or 100K. Can include maintenance too if you want for added $.

I purchased mine used at well. One mistake I made was I assumed the Tech Pkg and Nav it included backup camera or sensors. It does not unless you get driver assist with it.

Not a big deal for some but my driveway is shared and tight.

All in all very happy with the car. Mine is 6MT and was surprised that is has hill hold. Important in my up and down city.

You can have Car Toys add a nice backup camera that integrates into the nav. I did that and love it. You just don't get the audio beeps if you get near an object. The backup lines do move with the steering wheel and the screen comes up automatically when you put the car in reverse.

I've been looking at dash cams too for like $200 you can get one front and rear and I THINK the rear will act like a backup camera on most of them.
