Was going through some videos, and this guy was talking about his new 230i with a manual, and mentioned that it will auto rev match the downshift. Is this true? I thought that feature was only available on the M240i?

Here is the video. He mentions the rev matching at 5:06. I haven't made it all the way to the end of the video, but I have yet to see an example of it doing that.

Edit #2: Figured I would add in as well that at several times later in the video he downshifts and the revs match, but no way to tell if it was him or the computer.

I can confirm the 230i in sports plus mode blips on downshifts.

Interesting. Appreciate the response, but I'm getting conflicting info here. The guy in the video claims that it well rev match in all modes (just like the M240 and M2). And you mention that it does it in "sport plus".

And the reason that I thought the 230 didn't have the feature was because I asked the BMW Genius team shortly before the new engines were set to come out if it would include that feature. And at the time they said it was only for the M240. Now I know that sometimes the Genius folks have been wrong for other members on various BMW forums, so perhaps that was the case here? Or perhaps BMW added the feature in later?

I'm pretty sure it's available on even the base Mini, so it's not like it's a crazy technology. Certainly would like to find out 100% for sure though.

My 230i does it, and I mainly drive in Comfort mode.

So I called BMW on my way home from work (before I had seen this additional reply) and they told me again that the 230i with a manual transmission does NOT have the auto rev match.

But then I get home and see this additional reply that it does.

I guess what I really need to do is find one to drive, but the closest manual 230 I can find is over 700 miles away.

I have the 230i manual RWD. I can confirm it auto rev matches in comfort mode etc. It even rev matches by pushing the shift stick towards the lower gears (left) from neutral without actually putting it in gear. My is the Canadian model, not sure if that makes a difference I'm still trying to get used to it.

My US model 230 definitely rev matches in all modes. Only time it doesn't is if the clutch is out.

It matches when moved to a gate, say from 5/6 to 3/4.

It matches again when pushed from the gate into the gear.

Works fine, and is appreciated since the turbo lag makes it difficult to do manually.
