Introducing Cheeto..my new M240

I picked up this beauty from the Performance Center back in July and I’m loving this car!

It replaced my 135is Convertible. I was looking for a car that was as fun as the 135is, but more comfortable day-to-day. Cheeto has met this challenge!! However, I do miss the sweet exhaust note of the 135is. I may add the MPE down the road.

Options:
- 6MT - (my favorite option....except when I’m in stop & go traffic)
- Sunset Orange
- Oyster Sensatec
- Premium Package (heated steering wheel & seats, navigation, etc)
- Park Distance Control
- Jet Black Wheels with Pilot Super Sports
- HK speakers
- Black Kidney Grills

It’s hard to capture the true tone of Sunset Orange on camera, but it’s gorgeous in person. I was a bit anxious since I ordered the color sight unseen, but now I have no regrets!

I’ve already done a few cosmetic mods - gloss black mirror covers, painted front reflectors (both from IND), and 35% ceramic tint all around (minus the windshield). I also had the front end wrapped with a clear bra and had the exterior ceramic coated.

Im normally not into those kind of colors but sunset orange is amazing.

I think that is such a great design the way the hood folds into the fender and front.

I've been seeing more and more sunset orange bimmers and I have to say its really grown on me, excited to see what frozen sunset orange looks like on other BMWs other than the new Z4. I may have also laughed just a little when reading the note they put on your car at the service center, lol.

Congrats on the new ride! I've been in my Sunset Orange m240 for 2 months now and love it. I was also a former 135is owner and missed the sweet exhaust note so I had MPE installed last week - definitely worth the investment.

Mine is Valencia Orange, also ordered with just a paint sample to go by. Two months of waking up worrying about it. Orange can be great or awful. Love the color.

yea, I chuckled too when I saw it. I asked them if I could keep, but the answer was no haha.

Thanks! Yea, orange is really hit or miss but they got it right with this one.

How is it when you're just cruising on the highway? The only thing that bothered me with the 135is exhaust was that I could hear it at all times. That's not a bad thing at all, but sometimes I just wished that it was quieter when cruising on the highway. It got a bit tiring after 2+ hour road trips. I never tried the hardtop, so it could've been a convertible issue.

Yeah, I remember fair amount of highway drone with 135is and sometimes having to downshift one gear if I wanted to reduce the noise. I also had an X3 with Supersprint exhaust and that had awful drone on the highway. Thankfully, no drone issues with MPE on the m240! That would have been a deal breaker for me so I made sure to check with other forum members before having it installed.

That's really great to hear. Are you still able to hear a faint exhaust note or is the noise level similar to stock when cruising?

I've tried to find a nearby dealer that has one with a MPE to test it out for myself, but haven't been able to find one yet unfortunately.

No drone on the highway. The noise level is the same as ASD but natural with more pops and crackles

Did you mean cruising on highway? I didn't really notice much change in exhaust note while cruising on highway pre and post MPE installation. I also do not notice much change in noise related to MPE while cruising on highway in comfort or sport modes. But maybe my hearing is getting worse over time...

Have you considered meeting up with another forum member in your area to compare exhaust sound?
