^ I wish I coded that in. I did mine so long ago that I dont even remember how to do it anymore.

Do you need current version to code? I have 3.28.1 and launcher is 2.6.2.124 loaded on my Surface Pro 4

2 - Standard Light: Same Basic Beam Pattern as with 8S4 Enabled and Headlamp Switch Set to Auto. Active from 50 - 110kph (30MPH - 68MPH)

3 - Guiding Fog Light - Shallow and Wider Beam Pattern Enabled with the Front Fog Lamps On and Headlamp Switch in Auto and Speed 0 - 110kph (Both headlamps are panned outwards 8 horizontal from center and lowered 0.7 vertically)

4 - Highway Light - Long Throw Pattern illuminating approx. 25% further than Standard Light. Active from 110 to 250kph (68MPH- 155MHP). (Driver's Side Headlamp is panned 3.5 outwards Horizontal from center and lowered 0.25 vertically, while the passenger side headlamp is raised 0.2 vertical)

Above is a break down of at what speed the VLD activates each pattern, to change for which Number No. 4 > Highway Lights activates to 50mph:

*Expert Mode*

FEM> 3073 > C_AFS_E_V_LO > Custom (0X50)

The default is "6E" which equals = 110KLM or 68MPH.

Coding "50" lowers the speed activation to 80KLM or 49.7MPH. Which I find more suitable. But you could chose a different speed based on the HEX conversion.
I saw your post but then managed to forget it when I coded the VLD. I'll add that tomorrow, but I can confirm I got the VLD coded. You're right: the sweeping of the lights, particularly to the driver side, is way more noticeable.

It doesn't matter which version you use, it is the same module for adjusting the highway speed of VLA, custom your speed accordingly.

sunil_linus,

Thanks for the additional information on coding VLD.

I had originally enabled F030. Last night, when I positioned the car in a commercial garage with a wall 50 feet away and turned it on, it seemed to me that the motion of the headlights was mostly up and down. I decided I should try recoding.

When I clicked on C_AFS_ENA, I discovered that there were two sets of F020, each with its own enable and disable buttons, and the bottom set had enable clicked. Previously, there had been one set of F020 and one set of F030. So in coding it chose F020 apparently.

It was the same for LUT_FLC_FORWARDLIGHTING_Y. Previously there had been one set of buttons for F020 and one for F030; now there were two sets for F020. The bottom F020_mit_AFS was already enabled.

I clicked on C-AFS-E-V-LO, but it had only one button that showed "defaultwert" (or something close to that; I don't know German and I didn't write it down). So there was no way to reset it to custom (0X50).

I have not yet had an opportunity to reposition the car with a wall 50 feet away, but I am betting it will be the same as last night, since Bimmercode did not permit me to recode the settings that were already coded.

Any suggestions? My car has adaptive headlights and automatic high beam/low beam, but maybe it does not do VLD.

my 2018 m240i f23 is doing VLD, so my guess is you have to hit the right buttons still. Here's what I followed:

Bimmercode for VDL:

***Front Electronic Module***

In Expert Mode:

C_AFS_ENA (3073) uncheck the two lines that contain "disable", and checked the the two lines that contain "enable".

LUT_FLC_FORWARDLIGHTING_Y (3073) Uncheck the two lines that contain 0xB0, and checked the two lines that contain 0x9C three times.

Complete the coding before exiting "expert mode." Done.

Mine had only f020 entries (two apparently identical pairs) and I could only set one of them. if I'd go to set the other, the one would go off. I don't recall if I left the first ones set or the seconds. doubt it really matters but I suppose it might.

Anyway it's likely possible. Also it's not very exciting at all.

Speaking of the highway speed setting how does that relate to the high beam standard setting?

It only effect changes to the low beam Highway Speed VLA. Nothing to do with high beam.

Bimmercode is Bimmercode is Bimmercode? Although expert mode was added to the Android version a little while ago, it doesn't appear to offer all of the parameter settings available in the iPhone version.

Yes. It seems above the second speed hack it throws the low beam further. I was wondering how that throw compares to the high beam throw. Guess I'll go out in the dark sometime and see.

familiarize yourself with how changing the factory coding for each module will affect your vehicle before blindly making any changes.

*C_AFS_ENA* & *LUT_FLC_FORWARDLIGHTING_Y* are the two modules for activating VLD.

1)C_AFS_ENA: Select *F020_enable* and it will also auto-enable F030.
2)LUT_FLC_FORWARDLIGHTING_Y: *F020_ohne_AFS (0x9C )* Three times it will auto-select F030 automatically. VLD activated.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The third process I mention is not necessary to activate VLD; it's only to change to speed for which the Highway Speed VLD activates (C_AFS_E_V_L_O) from 68MPH to 50MPH, a personal preference. If you not sure how to change the HEX number for this module, you can just leave it alone. It does not affect the activation of VLD. Just alter the two above activates VLD from the factory.
sunil-linus,

I appreciate your continuing to try to help me.

With regard to the first two changes, I follow exactly what you are saying to do. The problem I have is that the alternatives you refer to do not appear in my version of Bimmercode, at least not with the same wording. Perhaps this results from a different version of Bimmercode (I have an Android; maybe the iPhone version is different). It is also possible that it results from the fact that my BMW software was updated in January to take care of some display problem. I have noticed that the ASD module is much different now. Pre-update, it used to have one box for enable and another for disable; now, it just says Off. Maybe there was a change to the VLD modules as well. And I am not ruling out the possibility that I just screwed it up.

Similarly, I understand that C_AFS_E_V_L_O changes one of the threshold speeds, but in my version there is no way to customize it; it appears just to have some default automatically chosen.

At this juncture I could (i) leave it the way it is, (ii) try disabling what I previously enabled, to see what happens, or (iii) try to have it go back to the previous setting. I haven't yet decided.

i need some help. i have a 2014 m235i and trying to code variable light distribution (VLD) using bimmercode on android app.
under C_AFS_ENA, it is currently selected on "I001disable". do i select on "I001enable" or "F020enable"?
under LUT_FLC_FORWARDLIGHTING_Y, it is currently selected on "I001Codierwert ohne AFS", should i select "I001Codierwert mit AFS" or "F020Codierwert mit AFS"?

I am unable to enable VLD on my US-spec '16 750 (G12, which has 552/5AP/8S4) by Bimmercode
In LaMaster1>C_AFS_ENA, I unchecked "G011 disable", and checked "G011 enable"
In LUT_FLC_FORWARDLIGHTING_Y, I unchecked items containing "_keine_AFS" (0x00, 0x00, 0x14) and checked those with "_AFS" (0x00 three times, there was no 9c at all)
Code....no horizontal swiveling of the driver's side low beam upon startup.
Any ideas?

The 750i uses a FLE module instead of a FEM that's in the regular Xenon 2 series, to control the headlight functions.

The FLE functions are different and the coding parameters are much more in-depth for VLD and GFHB to become active. Thus, those coding parameters would not work for you on the G12.

Is it possible to code just the VLD on a G12 using Bimmercode?

It's shares the same headlight platform as the M4 and I have heard that some folks where able to code VLD and some even report GFHB. You can find a lot on the subject in the F80/82 section.

However, the US headlights and the ROW have different part numbers and also a different arrays of LEDs, so it would function properly unless you retrofit the European version of the headlights, which has the proper hardware.

VLD would be able to code successfully, since it speed-dependent and really just changes the beam range.

GFHB requires a matrix of LEDs to create the proper beam patterns, which the US spec headlights lacks.

The 2 series with Xenon was able to code in GFHB because it was simpler in its function, in which it used the hi-beam flap, projector and camera to manipulate the beam pattern.

LEDs uses a different MO and controller, so it's required a lot more intricate coding than Xenons.
