Smile How to deal with pre-delivery anguish ?

Hey there, fellas. Noob here, saying hello.

New to luxury cars ... currently drive a VW GLI Autobahn, but ordered my M235i Glacier Silver Metallic 2 days ago (), and I wanted to find out how others deal with the absolute agony of waiting for Bavarian Motor Works to send you your new baby.

Is it not the longest 3 months of your life ???

Also, will the dealership give you a way to track progress on production and delivery ? How is this tracked by consumers ?

1) sign in to "my BMW" on the desktop bmw home page.

2) ask your dealer for a production # when he gets it.

3) get the bmw 1-800 phone number

4) search this forum for maritime shipping schedule

5) spend hours on this forum till car arrives

Read the sticky thread about tracking progress.

There's a lot of info in this forum. It will keep you going for a while!

I've read the manual too, so you could always do that

Yeah and prepare all your mods, including radar, dashcam too. There's great DIYs on this for the car specifically.

I'm picking mine up in about 1-2 weeks!

Go to the dealership where you ordered the car and do a test drive at least once a week. Hands on is the best way to get your anxiety relieved.

Haha, I wish I could do that, man. There's no way a dealer will allow that, especially since you've already bought a car from them. They know that they don't have to be super nice to you anymore, coz you've already given them a sale. Once they have what they want from you, you're no longer important to them.

If it were a 335i, maybe I could test drive once in a while, because they have a 100 of them on the lot. But, they have only 1 M235i on the lot, and they really don't like people test driving unless they're going to buy one, and I already did that It has 100 miles on it, and they wanna sell it now.

Do dealerships in Bahrain allow that ?

I've been watching and rewatching the online videos, started through the owner's manual, and have been checking the tracking page and number a few times a day. The annual new car show is this weekend, so I went yesterday. First I sat in a bunch of other cars and thought, "yeah, I made the right choice". Then, at the very end of the hall, dead center, hidden behind some bigger BMWs, there was an Estoril Blue M235i (cue trumpets and choir). So, my wife indulged me while I sat and looked and sat and smiled a whole lot.
So, make a go of it if the car show is nearby.

Yap. Is there only one BMW dealership in your area?

3 months? When I ordered my wagon in '11, I placed the order in Feb, did Euro delivery in August, then had another 6 weeks to wait for it to float over the pond. 3 months ain't nothin'! Doing it again for my M235i, just ordered a week ago, so an even longer wait. Soooo worth it. Though the worst part is second-guessing your color choices!

Hehe, yeah, that's why I opted against ED. I CANNOT wait that long !

BTW, since you're on the East coast, your transit time from Germany should be 2 weeks less than mine !

Yeah, I hear you about the color choices ! I saw a lot of sexy Estoril Blue 2'ers on this forum, and kinda had doubts for a while, but now I think I'm sure about mine, though. And, black mods look sick against a Silver exterior !

Let's support each other through this pain, and then, when we finally get ours ...

Agreed. I ordered mine Jan 14 and was delivered July 14. It was worth the wait.
