The cases are the same, you will have to check the part number

OK -- found this white sticker . Several raised # like the one you can see in the 1st photo. I was looking for the # 33108659987 but this is what I found & it was via a mirror & was a PIA to capture.

Without any further clues -- I will just let BMW tell me what it is.

I have all kinds of photos of the raised # on the outside of the black housing.

I jacked up rear end (both sides) and witnessed that as I turned one wheel the other rear wheel turned in the opposite direction --- this is NOT LSD as they would have both turned in the same direction.

Sad but true

If you cant tell if the car has an LSD just by driving it, you don't need one anyway.

Yep!
You don't need a limited slip differential
You don't need a multi-link rear suspension
You don't need 4 piston front disk brakes
You don't need direct fuel injection
You don't need variable valve timing and lift
You don't need Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires
You don't need adaptive M sport suspension
You don't need a twin scroll turbo charger
You don't need a BMW!

But, it sure would be nice to think if you had a BMW, the ultimate driving machine,
that the differential would be at least as capable as the differential in a 94 Miata

I am hoping to keep the car for a long time so I am willing to wait.

Only had the car 2 weeks -- 16k miles. Looking at tires , rotors & pads.

Starting with tint this week .

I wonder if the BMW LSD is the best way to go over other LSD Options?
