M Performance Exhaust install and sound videos

Got the exhaust yesterday and wasted no time putting it on.
Ended up going with the BMW clamp (why is this thing $100+? ) instead of welding, figured BMW knows what they are doing.
Rented a tailpipe cutter from the auto parts store which worked very well and install was all around smooth.

Sounds pretty good, though stock wasn't bad either. It's a bit raspy but also deep but it's quite a bit quieter than I expected it to be and honestly with the windows up, you can't tell a difference. But now that the weather out here is nice, more reason to drive with the windows down.

So here some video's first and then some pictures...

Popcorn anyone?

Cold Start

Driving Away

Old exhaust...

Tailpipe cutter...local O'reilly had never even rented this out before, it was bring new!

Nice clean cut...

Why is this $100+? :wtf:

All done...

And because, you know, the car needed more ///M badges.

There was no mark unfortunately and I ended up making 3 cuts to get it exactly where I wanted, didn't want to cut it too short off the bat as that wouldn't have been easily fixed.

It's hard to tell from the picture, is that clump functionally different than something like this?

Oh for sure, it's like double walled and the inner wall sort of interconnects with these large sort of "teeth" that fit into each other.

Have to ask, did you ever get a price to have it welded instead?

Phone quote was $60 - $80 for labor and $20 in parts.

Great job. Looks like a nice, clean, DIY job. Interesting how the M-Perf muffler and the stock one look about the same size. Did you get a chance to weigh both of them?

The secret to reusing the stock tips is to knock them off while the muffler is still mounted on the car. I used a steel wedge used to remove floor tile and hammer it off from the backside. Do damage to the tips as you only need to get it about two inches started and then plug off by hand.

Yes, the clamp part number is 18307560815. ECS Tuning has it the cheapest at around $75.

I remember you saying yours did not I don't know if that's the norm, the guy I bought it from said there was no clamp included when he ordered it from his CMS dealership.
