Road to 11's-Mission accomplished
Thought I would start my own thread as I feel I have been hijacking others posting my time slips.
Car ran 13.2, stock@106. I started off with just the M performance exhaust and JB4 on map 2 and ran 12.9@108. After finally having the EWG and FF wires installed it ran a best of 12.35@113-114 on the stock tires with a 1.9 60 ft with E30 mix gas/map 7-tweaked by Terry at BMS .It made 403 rwhp and 450 lb/ft torque STD. I was initially reluctant to do the downpipes as I was afraid it may too loud but after getting a chance to ride in forum members(Thanks ALr0z) car I was sold. After the down pipes, throttle response was amazing and the car felt like it had a lot more torque down low. And the sound-just right! I was disappointed though at my first track outing after the down pipes as I ran slower -12.56 at the same trap mph as before.DA was much higher though at 2600 ft compared to DA of 500 ft when it ran 12.35. The MPSS rears also seemed to be losing traction and I could not get 60 ft time below 2.0 again-I tried the kick down blocker, launching in 2nd -No good and did not 60 any better and no way I could shift faster than the auto.lol Only one more thing to do in my quest for 11's ,get some sticky tires. After much debate with myself whether to run Drag slicks(Hoosiers) on some cheap 17 inch wheels or the Nittos(back ordered) I found Mickey Thompsons make a 245/40 18 inch tire. It is 25.7 inches tall and at first I was worried it would rub since I am lowered but they fit like a glove-eliminating the remaining wheel gap I had with the stock tires and no rub. While changing the tires out Discount tire noticed I had an impact break(a goose egg on the outer drivers side front tire)so I put the 245/35 tires on the front wheels(no rub either)-till I could order a front tire-Discount tire think I can get a discount on a new one . Anyway-I could not have been happier with the new stance with the 245/40's in the back with the 20 mm spacers I had on there before and the 245/35's in front with the 15 mm spacers. Gives it a nice rake-like my Mustang! Also just FYI, If you wondered like me what was up with "off" appearance of the car stock ,YES the front stock tires are taller(25.1) than the rears(24.90) giving it an almost goofy looking reverse rake. Love the way it looks now and may just leave the 245/35's on front. I will take some pictures in better weather and edit the thread. I just scored an extra set of OEM wheels on the classified and may just mount taller stickier tires -may be Toyo's for daily driving and swap out the wheels with the Mickey Thompsons when I go to the drag strip. If I keep the spare front wheels I may mount the 225/40's since they are narrower /lighter which may help at the strip. Any way to get back to my mission. Yesterday it seemed the DA would be good as it was in the low 60's.The track may also have been prepped better as the NMCA is coming into town(Indy this weekend) First pass off the street is a 12.021@112- close but still not the mph I was hoping for. I left tire pressure at 38 psi with just a short dry burn out to clean off the tires so pleased with the 60 ft of 1.773 using launch control which just spun with the MPSS tires. I let it cool down for 30 mins then tried again- 12.001@113.38- Hope rising! at least ET is picking up. Decided to go for broke and dumped a can of torco-octane booster in now just over 3/4 tank of E30 while frantically emailing Terry that I need to send logs for him to review so I can get more mph out of my down pipe. I dropped the tire pressure down to 21 psi and did a short full burn out. I was tempted to foot brake but decided to trust LC one more time. Tires spun a little off the line but ---Booyah-Finally.11.94@114.39 I did not back it up as I decided to listen to "the little voice" in my head telling me to quit while I was ahead(Last time I ignored the voice I left the track on a flat bed after breaking a CF drive shaft on my Mustang chasing a low 10 second slip). Very pleased and I can stop beating up on the car now and just enjoy. Pretty sure if it can trap higher(115-116) like I think it should with the down pipe then it will run 11.7-11.8 Looking for another Mission(still working on getting my 12 Mustang in the 9'safter auto swap) -Candidates below.lol or Last edited by olaosunt; 10-11-2014 at 07:58 PM.. Cool.
Curious why you saw no improvement in trap, though. Downpipe should have shown significant gains, especially since you were already pushing the car to higher levels prior. Should be a solid 117 MPH car. What was Terry's word? |

I could probably have run the 11 with the power I was making before the down pipe with a sticky tire. My fastest trap speed before was 113.9 but this was in like 500 ft DA and spinning some. I was expecting a solid 2-3 mph gain but was barely 1 mph faster. I think most of my gain with the down pipe may be in lower rpm torque/faster turbo spool at least according to my butt dyno.I also love the sound now with the down pipe. In normal mode it is not much louder but has a nicer tone and is a tad louder than before in sport mode. Unfortunately I will NOT be going back to the same Dyno operator(that is a different story on its own but will keep that to myself ) I may do some logs next time I am the strip as Terry asked I send some to see if there is anything more he can get out of it. 117 mph trap would be great and would likely get me solidly into the 11's at about 11.6-11.7 Am I the fastest m235 so far? I used LC for all 3 runs that day. The car does shift at redline, but when I tried doing it myself in manual mode I was slower.it probably takes some practice but when I go to the strip in the M235 I just want to relax, sit back(and hold on) and enjoy the ride. I have had enough headaches and stress trying to shift my mustang-Broke down and going to use the "easy"button on that as well as I am doing an auto swap |

Get a pure turbo stage1. You will be trapping at 119-120 on a custom map6. I have been able to get 11.6's @ 120ish with pure turbo, FBO, JB4, meth and E85 in the mix
