Bimmerworld TA5R 18x8.5 et 38 on continenral DWS06 245-35-r18

Hello everyone, first off the forums has been tremendously helpful with this, figured I wanted to share some info.

I'm not sponsored or anything, just liked how it all turned out and hope this helps.

My 2021 m240i came with 719m bicolor wheels which I was not a fan of.

Went ahead with bimmerworld TA5R in silver. 18 x 8.5 et 38. Initially I reused the stock runflats, 225-40-r18 and it looked ugly, like wearing clothes you outgrew years ago (if you like the stretched look all good) and since the lip was sticking out seemed like a disaster waiting for a curb.

I didn't want to get into suspension/camber mods, wanted to stuff the widest tires without mods/rubbing.

Was between 235-40-r18 but some genius here suggested trying 245-35-R18. Luckily for me it worked out and very happy with how it turned out.

Tires stick out ever so slightly, it doesn't rub , I like the new tires and looks good imo.

I attached pics, poverty cell phone pics, since I'm brand new hope it goes thru.

Cliff notes
Happy with the Bimmerworld TA5R 18x8.5 et38 square setup w conti DWS06 245-35-R18, stock fitment no mods, no rubbing.

Looks good! Also, welcome to the forum!

I have sets of BW TA5R’s used as track wheels on my f82 M4. 18x10.5et36 with 295/30-18 tires + 15 mm front spacer.

Congrats!

Does it feel any different to you while driving (I’m hoping for an elaborate answer)?

Also, I’m surprised that 245 on 8.5 @38 fits well up front.
I wonder if that’s common for everyone here.

Thanks, I'll try my best to elaborate. Keep in mind the m240i came w runflats, 225 width tires. Previous car was a e90 330i w hydraulic steering, N52 engine, 6MT.

I didn't keep the runflats for long, but these continentals are much quieter.

The grip is excellent. Not sure how much of this is runflat/nonrunflat vs tire width (225 vs 245)?? I gave it a good shakedown down some twisty roads, so far so good.

Can't say there's any difference in steering feel. Hot take but the steering feels on the m240 isnt great but isn't terrible either. At city speeds it feels like a econobox, but gets better with speed.

I decided to go 245/35 because I hated how 225s looked on these wheels and wasn't convinced that 235/40s would look any better. Pleasantly surprised that there's no fitment issues stock.

Looks are subjective but I really like how the wheel/tires turned out. I was between the TA5R and the enkei raijin.

Only downside is my trunk is semi useless, a full size spare tire lives back there now (saved 1 runflat and put it on stock wheels).

Love the wheels! I've got the same set in gunmetal for my summer setup: 235/40/18 square Michelin PS4S. I'm happy with the meaty look - not quite as wide as yours but a taller sidewall and a noticeable improvement in width compared to the stock 225 run flats. Obviously the grip is night and day vs the stock all season run flats that came on my car; I'm sure the tire compound of the PS4S is making the biggest improvement for performance but the extra width is also appreciated.

Here's some pics when I first got them: https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show...&postcount=315

Currently rolling the dice with an air compressor/tire sealant/patch kit. I'd like to put a spare kit together some day, but not stoked about losing trunk space.

Thanks man, I'm pretty sure I referenced your post when making decision to buy these over enkei

I had buyers remorse almost immediately on arrival with going silver vs gunmetal.
I thought gray on gray was going to be too monochromatic. Def wasn't going to get the black. Overall very happy with how things turned out.

Re: trunk space, while the wheel takes up space I throw a old towel in the wheel well and use it for storage (so far a jack, tire iron etc) so still usable in a sense but at the same time useless for luggages//large items back there.

Ahh nice! Silver wheels are usually my favorite and I understand your dilemma - I was worried about not having enough contrast against my white exterior so I chose gunmetal. I may end up rolling the dice and trying some silver wheels for my winter set. Like you I was also looking at the Enkei Raijins; hard to beat them for the price. Another favorite wheel is the VMR V810 in Hyper Silver - debating on those or another set of TA5R, but in silver.

Good idea on storing stuff inside the spare wheel, I may give that a try with a stock wheel.

Those look great! It was between your setup and Apex FL-5's for me. If you find the lack of sidewall gives you any issues, like it did for me, rest assured there is room to go up to 245/40/18 tires. Because I'm lowered, there's occasional fender-on-tire contact, but you can work around it once you get used to it.
