Driving a high torque large displacement car with a manual is a trip. I owned a C4 Corvette with a 6 speed.

Getting back to the topic; then in the US on business I actually tend to rent the Camaro SS. As a rental it is decent value and great fun, but I am not sure I could live with it as a daily - oh yeah, and if I were to have in in Denmark...150k |

Great discussion here! I just traded a '15 Mustang GT two weeks ago for my M235i x drive convertible. I had both the Mustang and Focus (Focus was the Winter/bad day car) and wanted to get into something that I could enjoy and have fun with regardless of the weather and I think I found it in the M235. Haven't done any mods yet but they are coming and I think in the "stoplight drags" the awd M235 will do just fine! I loved the Mustang but honestly never drove it, this car makes me find a reason to go out and drive!

Those euro prices are still a shocker - but probably part of why the autobahn is so safe (if every d-bag who could afford a 40K car could drive unrestricted over here, we'd have total carnage - not bad for Darwinism, but they'd probably just end up gorked out and living on disability).
And I'm in total agreement that rental/loaner (or an occasional test drive) is the very best way to enjoy these new muscle cars - not really keepers, but fun once in a while when s/b else is paying for the tires and clutch lining. |

I highly considered getting a fully loaded 2016 v6 Camaro RS when I bought my 228i. On paper it looked like the way to go. IE horsepower, mpg, overall specs, and reviews. Then I drove it, the power delivery just wasn't what I hoped it would be. Nor was the ride or handling. Despite this, I still sat down with the sales guy to do some numbers hoping that maybe he could make up for it with a great deal. GM was offering 5k off the car before dealer discounts so I hoped he would sweeten the deal more, but he didn't.
I wasn't in love with the car so I didn't negotiate farther. Glad I didn't because I found my like new CPO 228i that was everything I was looking for, at few thousand less than the camaro. |

I too test drove the 6th Gen Camaro 2SS. Exterior wise, it looks fantastic (especially with the optional smoked or clear taillights). And I was very impressed by it's performance. Even the interior and steering looked and felt good. The V8 NPP exhaust sounded glorious in Track mode. It's def. a good car for the money.
A few things I didn't like: 1) The clutch. It was "too" light for me (no feedback or spring feel what so ever) I guess I'm just use to heavy clutches (like the 370z) 2) Visibility was bad, but I think it was more that I felt like I was in a coffin (Almost claustrophobic) 3) The gauge colors looked too plain haha. I hate that GM green color that's on every gm car. I guess I'm just use to be orange 4) they are everywhere!! I like having a car that's not as popular on the road. I have seen two or three M235/240 on the road. |

While I agree that Cameros and Mustangs are common, most are the LS ($26,900) or Fastback ($25,200). It's not often that I see the SS's ($37,900 - $42,900) or the GT's ($33,200 - $37,200), although I do see more GT's than 2-series; SS's are about on par with 2ers I've encountered. I'm excluding the Shelby's ($56,000 - $63,000) here as those do look distinctly different from the other Mustangs, even to a casual observer. The styling is more distinct over the base models than the M cars. However, that was also one of the factors for me as well. I'd like to think that the 2-series looks unique, but I have a feeling a casual observer would not know the difference between a 2 or 3 series (other than the number of doors), and 3-series are a dime-a-dozen around here.

Yeah our cars are just BMWs to non BMW people, that's not a bad thing, people still go "damn thats a BMW". People tend to perk up a bit more if if it's an M car... But I understand what you are saying, not a lot of distinction between 2 and 3/4 series for people that don't know BMW.
I think my situation here in South East Texas is probably a bit different than where you are at. Camaros sell like crazy around here. For instance on auto trader looking at used only... And filtered for model years 2014-2018 only, since that was the first year for the 2. There are 128 camaros (All styles) for sell within 50 miles of me... 277 mustangs, and 126 challengers. Only 17 2 series for sell of all styles. And if you are talking new cars available, the divide is much greater. Want a new camaro? 660+ to chose from. 2 series? 42 of those to chose from. |

I think the fact that the Camaro feels like a coffin, when you are used to a 370, speaks for itself. I cross shopped the 370, and might have described THAT as too close (can't call it a coffin - that is reserved for A-8's and relaly big slow merc's - really pre-coffins ). And while the 'd'gab panache' of euro cars is a bit offputting, it is nothing compared to the 'instant mullet' reputation on the Camaro. I do occasionally regret selling my '72 Z28 clone, though.

Even then we have it easy compared to countries like Singapore, where that same 218i would cost ~$110k. |

Yup, many 6am mountain rips for me, almost weekly.. Stop for breakfast after and go about my day with it all out of my system. Air quality also diminishes as the day evolves, so the earlier the better in my books!
