Where to paint mirror caps?

I recently purchased m style/wing mirror caps for the m235i. Was wondering where I could go to get them painted Mineral White to match?

Yes, literally anyplace can do it. You might get a better price sending to IND though if they already have the paint booth fired up for a batch of white that day.

Agree...the bodyshop affiliated with my dealership did this before delivery. There might be that increased chance of paint on hand, as BEM-S4 notes.

You could also wrap them. Avery SW900 Supreme Wrapping Vinyl Film Gloss White Pearl SW900-109-S is a perfect match for Mineral White. I'm using the wrap on my M Performance splitter. The wrap is available from metrorestyling.com and you can by it by the foot. I'd recommend a $11 60" by 12" sheet so that you have plenty.

That's a good point - assuming getting your mirror caps painted immediately is not a life or death matter, you could very easily talk to your local BMW shop and have them let you know next time MW is going to be painted and piggy back on someone else's booth time. Hell at that point you might even get your mirrors done for a case of beer for the painter.

My M240I is on order. As part of the deal I had them agree to paint the mirror caps and rear diffuser same colour as car at no extra charge.

I'm also looking to get my mirror caps painted Melbourne Red to match my car, but I'm worried I'm going to go through the trouble only to be disappointed with paint not matching correctly. If you have gone through IND or bought their pre-painted matching mirror caps, can you comment on how good their paintwork is?

I'm mostly concerned because MR is a very unique color that has either a bright red/orange look or a deep lipstick red look, depending on how the light is hitting it. I can't imagine it's an easy color to match perfectly.

I suggest custom painting onsite by a bodyshop. Mine nailed Valencia Orange (for mirror caps AND brake calipers), also a sensitive color, and if it doesn't come out right the first time, it's easy for them to reshoot and for you to hold up against the car before reinstalling.

Good advice. Thanks! What would be a typical price for a job like this i.e. just the 2 mirror caps?

I wish I could parse it out, but as I recall (it was Summer of 2014) it was about $400 for all the calipers and mirrors combined. I'm pretty sure the calipers were the bulk of that, given the work involved. I would guess maybe $100.

FWIW IND charged me $80 to do MB paint on my grille surrounds and license plate frame. S0 3 pieces in a color they don't even typically work with.

Ah. My bad. Mine is Alpine White, the flat color. From this sample I just got, the White Pearl won't be a good match, although I'll look at it in the sun.

Probably they have other whites. I'll explore at the local wrapping place I've found, I guess.
