Towing hitch retrofit

hello,

was anyone able to retrofit the original towing hitch on the active tourer?
Does someone eventually have the material list and instructions?

thanks,
Stefan

I did for the X1 which share the same platform.
Quite easy retrofit if you buy towing hitch from scrapyard vehicle
Then buy wiring kit from BMW: 71602359385
You also need AAG control unit.

But before you start, make sure you check if you have right BDC version.

Attached pdf for X1 which is more or less the same principle, ask your dealer for correct pdf.

While installing I found that my rear bumper didn’t have any rear heat isolation attached. So I bought a new part with slot for towing hitch. You can also choose to cut your current one. I am talking part C from the Instructions pdf. Use realoem to find correct part for your vehicle.

Edit: note I also had to buy the addon fuseholder. I didnt upgrade the fan as I live in cold climate and only use the towing hitch occasionally so I figured it should be fine.

Was there also some coding needed when installing the harness and AAG control unit?

Yes first coding of the BDC to open up the power Line to the AAG.
Otherwise you won’t see the AAG module.

Then let the car sleep and then proceed to flash/factory code the AAG unit.
