I'd like an F16 afterburner sound when I use launch control.

A truly realistic F1 sound in our cars would be a dream come true. If it is done perfectly that is. And yes I know it is artificial, but so is most of the music we are listening to and have no problem enjoying (digital and software enhanced).

Yes, would rather own my dream car - a daily driver with a 2.6 liter V8 spinning to 15k and not weighing more than 1600 pounds. But it's not going to happen - ever.

I don't have my old E46 M3 anymore. Can't afford it at the moment. Maybe I loved that car too much that I would enjoy anything analog OR digital to let me reminisce that feeling of driving it again. The only way I get to "enjoy" my old car nowadays, is through a TV screen and with Gran Turismo 5. Would that be LESS of a lie than what I had suggested?

Ditto, I was looking for ways to get rid of this. I want to go fast, don't need to go deaf at the same time, just an opinion. Early on in life the sound of engines was something I listened for, now I just want the performance without the theatrics. Other folks still enjoy the noises, I just wish they were off by default and they gave the option to turn them on if you wished.

I posted this coding several months ago. I have hi fi and it appears not to work for me. If I code different engine then the ASD turns off.

I tried

- n55
- s55
- s63

And a few other petrol ones on the list for fun.

I wonder whether you need to have the HK system for the bigger engines?

I also made sure that chassis matched with engine class and engine power eg N20 would be F30, N20, O class.

Lol, that's pretty awesome. Only a matter of time before they can modify these files to whatever you wish. 458 Italia.mp3 FTW.

I don't know why you would want the M3/4's active sound though, since it sounds like a cow with a prolapsed anus (sorry, been watching a lot of Dr. Pol on Animal Planet).

but did you change the model range ?

it might be that you need to also change model range to F082 for the s55 setting to all match in the ASD module
meaning you would need a latest iStep.... what does the Aktivbedingung show for you ?

This is the most stupidest thing I have heard and seen people excited over. Why stop at playing fake M4 engine and exhaust notes/sounds in your 2 series go all the way people. If u gonna play fake sounds through your stereo system in your car to make you grow bigger balls or to get greater excitement of pretending u r driving something special that u don't actually own. Than may I suggest u go all the way and play sound recording of F22 raptor jet fighter. I mean how cool will that be every time u hit gas u hear a screaming F22 raptor jet fighter. Oh and for those of u who can't figure out how it works on certain sound systems just heck with all that wasting time just make RWrrrrrrrr Vroooorwwwwww sounds from your mouth with each gear change as loud as u want I am pretty sure anyone that sits in your car will hear such sounds and be like awwww shucks dude u totally have an M4/M3.......lol!!! U guys crack me up with such bogus

Well it's an amplified noise from some car's engine bay, namely the one used for the recording -- just not your car's engine bay. You're good with that, right?
I will have to digest this

I read a couple years back that all electric car companies were testing fake exhaust sounds. The reasoning was they are too quiet in suburban/city environments and they needed the car to sound more like a car for pedestrians to know a car is near. GM said they would offer owners different sound files to change at a the push of button. The feature would self cancel when on the highway as detected by GPS in the car.

Nothing like having a Smart Car roaring down the side roads with a Muscle V8 exhaust note playing.
