M235 vs 335/435

Hey guys i was just curious about the differences in performance between the m235 and the 335/435 as I may go that route if they are practically the same. Im not really worried about obvious stuff like more weight, or tune that gives extra 20hp/30tq. more curious about stuff such as

-Is the steering the same? or does the m235 have specifically calibrated steering

-is suspension the same if adjustable suspension option is selected? i rode in a 435 today without adjustable suspension and it felt very soft. i hope that is not the case with the m235. im coming from KW V1s so i like a stiffer ride

-are brakes the same?

-will i get 245s in rear if m-sport is selected?

-is the manual tranny the same? ive heard only good things on the m235 MT

-Any other differences that are not obvious

basically just trying to find out if the m235 has any significant performance advantages over the 335/435. TIA

I drove both. M235 is just a bit more sporty and mean. 435 is more comfy and the fit and finish inside is a bit better but I came from E92 M3 which I felt was already too big and the new 435 is just enormous IMO.
I loved the size of the E46 coupe and the M235i is exactly that.
The 4er to me looks bigger than the E63 6 series, albeit way more beautiful.
Looks wise the M235i>435<335m sport

Im looking for more specifics so i can assess the differences, like why the m235 feels more sporty and mean. i agree with you on the looks tho. Thanks for the reply

Here is what is costs to make a 435i equivalent to an M235

As you can see you will need to add the following options:
M-sport
Power pack kit
Sport exhaust

And you still won't have the adaptive suspension or the M performance brakes or the rear diffuser that all come standard on the M235

In my opinion if you want luxury, get a 435, if you want raw performance get an M4, if you want a great compromise at a good value get the M235

Both really good cars... if you need the 2 extra seats, get the 335 if not M235i

I too was debating a 435+MPPK+MPE+DHP vs M235i, but somehow the m235i was always so much fun to drive, the 435 was better looking and had HUD, but it just wasn't as fun to drive. So I ultimately choose the car that I felt was much more fun to drive than a car that had more space and better looks...

Thanks for the replies guys but I was looking for more specific factual differences like steering calibrations and suspension. Like is the adjustable suspension in m235 stiffer than adjustable suspension in 435?

Oops I seem to have you are right!

Can't find the other picture I meant to attach which was even more expensive!

For the life of me, I don't get buying a 435 that is more expensive than an M4!! But to each his own

I get you on that...theres a 435 at my local dealership selling at around 75k that has been sitting there for months. Who in their right mind would buy that over an M4?

Does that have every M performance option in the catalog? They sometimes kit out those M-performance everything cars to have in the showroom so they can try and sell people on the $3000 wheel upgrade. There was a 2 series at my local dealer ship that had every single M performance option available on it and it was probably close to $70k between all the carbon bits and bobs.

Yea it had all the M performance options plus some upgraded wheels and on top of that a $5000 individual orange paint job. Still...not enough bang for the buck.

Definitely not...yeah those are usually showroom queens. I've seen those as managers specials too. I imagine they write them off, part them out and turn the car into a loaner when it's done lol.

Have driven all 3 cars you mentioned. It's been a while for my drive in 335 so I won't comment on that.
Between 435i with m-sport package and m235i the suspension and steering felt very similar.
In my opinion m235 feels sportier because of the smaller size which makes the driving experience more fun. After all you are driving a more nimble car.
M235 was noisier and not in a good way. Probably ASD induced sound, not my cup of tea but can be disabled.
With similar equipment m235 will always be cheaper but at the same time will feel less luxurious for number of reasons.
Both are drivers cars. M235 is a little bit more focused but not by much.

Where did you get such information?

I just cross check on ETK and rear axle are identical between F2x and F3x...

Carrier, wishbone, struts... parts have identical part numbers on F2x and F3x...
